How would we objectively know when the race problem in America has been solved? I'm serious - all the riots and protesting and breaking things - what is the problem and how do we know it is solved...what does victory look like? When have the demands been met?

I'm wondering if anybody can answer this question without nebulus answers such as "when people stop being racist" or "cops stop killing black people". What is the objective proof there is a problem and what is the objective proof it has been solved?

Why do you assume racism can ever be eliminated? All you can do is control your own response when you witness it occurring.

Dems passed the justice in policing act. Mitch, as usual, is sitting on it. That's concrete action the Dems have taken but which is being stymied by the GOP in the Senate. Shouldn't they at least give it an up or down vote?

The Administration does not support policies that undermine the ability of law enforcement to maintain law and order and secure public safety. H.R. 7120 would limit qualified immunity for police officers, which the courts have long held plays an important role in ensuring that law enforcement officers have the flexibility and confidence they need to make difficult decisions in extreme and unanticipated situations. This legislation would also allow unsubstantiated allegations against police officers to be publicized through a law enforcement “misconduct registry,” thereby creating due process concerns for law enforcement officers and jeopardizing the privacy and safety of such officers and their families. Any unproven allegations that would exist in such a registry could easily devastate the reputations of countless law-abiding, hard-working law enforcements officers across the country. The Administration also opposes provisions of the bill that would lower the mens rea standard from “willful” to “reckless” for certain criminal conduct alleged to have been committed by law enforcement officers. The willful standard that has long existed under civil rights law appropriately ensures that acts of brutality and other clear violations of Federal rights are subject to criminal punishment, while avoiding deterrence of actions that are necessary for public safety. The legislation would also inappropriately allow the Attorney General to make grants to encourage potentially ideological “community-based organizations” to implement standards for law enforcement agencies, whether or not such organizations have any skill or experience in the law enforcement profession.

I'm asking what is the objective proof racism is actually a problem....and what is the proof the problem has been solved. Not necessarily eliminating it, anymore than one can eliminate the Flu. But the Flu is more of a problem some years than others. How do we know racism is a problem currently and what is the proof needed to see that it is no longer a problem? Again - objectively speaking and not in platitudes.

It won't be solved for some people. It is like saying when will crime be eliminated and that is never unfortunately. People are not flawless & that is the problem. Racism is not at the level it was pre civil rights movement thank God but apparently this is the most divided the country has ever been.

So I didn’t pick up on the proof of the problem but ok.

I don’t believe in the existence of “systemic racism”. I only believe in the response of individuals. And I really think that is how you have to evaluate it on an individual basis.

Why not? Not saying I disagree, just wondering what criteria you are using to make that conclusion.

Similar to you. How is it defined. I see that statement “systemic racism” and I interpret that as racism is literally codified in our laws. I simply reject that notion at this point in our country’s evolution.

And I absolutely reject any legislation attempted to force a morality response to the issue. You cannot legislate an individual to not be racist. You can only hold them accountable if their individual racist views result in actions which violate another individual’s rights.

It has to be a horrible work environment knowing you have totally incompetent leadership all the way up yo the state level.

A lot of these LEO's have dedicated their lives to this profession so it's hard to say I quit. This is also where the thin blue line comes into play. There are a lot of innocent people counting on them. The antagonizers, criminals, Antifa, mob, etc want them to quit. Probably several leftists in city hall too.
