Looks like "that guy" will be headed to Happy Valley. Wise move for him. It was NEVER going to get better than the last 2 years at Vandy and most likely would have been taking a step back. No way that program can consistently stay with UGA, Florida, USC and of course.....Tennessee. Welcome back to the bottom Dores!

They got lightning in a bottle when they hired Franklin. They won't do it twice. You can bet they will fall apart without him.

So, are you admitting that Franklin can coach? I'm pretty sure most posters on here have dismissed anything he's accomplished while at Vandy. But those same posters are glad he's leaving.

I am NOT a fan....but he did do a great job at a very difficult place to win. Good timing for him....Muschamp has tanked....UGA has been sub par...and obviously we are a victim of Dooley-itis. He got out just in time.

Franklin is a good coach. His schedule at Vandy has been on the easier side. But he's beaten us 2 years in a row and beat UGA and UF in the same year. Spin that any way you want but he's a good coach and I'm glad he's leaving.

Vandy doesn't scare me with or without Franklin. We're about to be on a whole different level.

He's a great coach, but let's get real. They'll never be a force in the east. We've just been that awful.

Said it many times before, will say it again.... as much as I dislike the prick, he's a very good coach. 8-5 coach at top SEC schools gets fired....8-5 coach at Vandy is historic.... despite playing awful schedules, he won games that very, very few other VU coaches ever have. Sure would like to see him stay around and get the UT ass kicking that's coming to him. Oh well.

People dismissing what he's done at Vandy are holding Vandy to the same standards as the upper tiered teams in the conference and it isn't fair to do that. What he's been able to do there is pretty remarkable.

Wouldn't exactly call him a great coach. He's done a very good job at Vandy and I think he'll have very good success at PSU. But 24-15 ain't great, I don't care where it is. The job Shaw has done at Stanford.... that's great.

Didn't dismiss it. Said he's a very good coach, made the same point about VU that you did. He's done it winning games vs bad teams.....games that virtually no other coach has done at VU in the modern era. Did a fantastic job at VU... far from proving he's a great coach with his 24-15 coaching record at Vandy.

Hopefully we can get a bowl game rematch in the near future.
