Wouldn't exactly call him a great coach. He's done a very good job at Vandy and I think he'll have very good success at PSU. But 24-15 ain't great, I don't care where it is. The job Shaw has done at Stanford.... that's great.

At Vandy, it's pretty close to being great. How far back do you have to go to find a Vandy coach with a winning record?

If his 24-15 (.615) record doesn't impress you, what about Butch's 55-34 (.618) record?

Why bring in Butch? This about Franklin right? Jeez.

No, absolutely not is your answer. Neither has remotely proven themselves to be a great coach at this point.

There are very few "great" coaches IMO , it's a very short list. Saban, Meyer, Spurrier maybe. Historically, Bryant, Paterno, Schembechler, Wilkinson. Not an exhaustive list by any means, just off top of my head.

Don't understand the incessant need to constantly criticize/denigrate the coach of the team who you're supposedly a fan of. What's the point?

If he's accomplished no more than Dooley after 2-3 years fire away. Right now though? Why go out of your way propping up Vandy's coach while going out of your way to run down UTs coach?

Just holding him accountable right?

Off the top of your head you left off Neyland.

There's more in those #s than what is on the surface.

For instance, despite going 5-7 at TN, CBJ beat 3 bowl eligible teams including 11-2 USC.

In 4 years at Vandy Franklin has beaten 4 bowl eligible teams and his signature win is against 8-5 UGA.

I think Franklin is a good coach who has done a good job of getting his team to finish close games. He has largely benefitted from some if the weakest schedules in this era of the SEC. His stock will never be higher and he is smart to go job hunting now.

So, are you admitting that Franklin can coach? I'm pretty sure most posters on here have dismissed anything he's accomplished while at Vandy. But those same posters are glad he's leaving.

He is a decent, not good coach. I don't want him to leave.

Question: When was the last time Vandy fired a coach as opposed to them leaving for a better job?

The meltdown on vandymania right now is hilarious, they are claiming that they can pay franklin saban type money and build a brand new stadium.
