Ancient Aliens

I don't think it would take 20 years as you say....

You guys are exaggerating. So we can build a tower about a kilometer high in maybe 5 years, but it takes 20 years to pile up a bunch of rocks?

Yes, we can accomplish some amazing engineering feats in these very modern times. I fail to see what relevence it has in trying to figure out how they built the pyramids (or any of the other amazing ancient structures) thousands of years ago.

And bearing in mind the context in which you place your comments might do you some.

My comments were in direct response to the post I quoted. So the irony here, I guess, is that you were the one that had no idea of the context of my posts...

Okay. Just make random statements to avoid the fact that you're wrong.

So your comments were not made in the context of this thread (another layer of the onion, if you will), which addresses the possibility that ancient aliens helped people thousands of years ago build amazing structures (and has nothing to do with whether modern cranes could be used to build a modern-day pyramid)? Try to keep up.

Wow, the ego on this guy. This has gone on long enough, it's just frustrating when you try to have a discussion on a discussion board, and somebody comes up trying to talk down to you about something completely unrelated to your post, simply because they were too lazy to read the couple posts preceding it. But by all means carry on trying to pretend that I am somehow the one in the wrong here.

You were the one offended that I addressed your earlier post. And I quote "Did my post address you?"

If you wanted to address one specific point to one specific person, I suppose you should have used a PM.

No, I believe the proper way to do that is to quote the post, and address it in the body of your post. :good!:

The PMs are not functioning, at this time. Also, addressing it through PMs defeats the purpose of a discussion board.

Followed up, apparently, by getting offended that someone other than the quoted user would dare respond to your comments.

the gorilla was brought back by popular demand

impressive, but I doubt it's the work of ancient aliens

why does it seem like I'm the only one here who appreciates the ingenuity of man and who doesn't seek to dumb civilization down to the point where we're incapable of figuring things out for ourselves?

Ive been saying that since the first page!

The crane you linked took 10 years to build. Towers are a whole different thing, and nowhere near the mass of a pyramid. I wouldn't compare the two. It's not hard to haul and stack I-beams, over 2 million gigantic rocks are a different story. You'd also have to cut and polish the outer stones to be shiny and beautiful(that's how they used to be). You also have to add in other things of the tower, not just the construction. Most towers take years to design. The crane you linked for example, it took 7 years just to design. Also, the material being used. How long did it take to be made? I think you you're underestimating the feat it would be to build a pyramid.

You don't think they would leave any waste/trash behind? And if they were so involved in the business of human kind, pretending to be Gods and all, why did they leave? If they didn't, why did they stop pretending to be Gods?

I agree to a certain extent. But then again, where are all the tools and machines that were used to create the marvels such as the Pyramids, the Parthenon, or Puma Punku? Shouldn't they have been found? I am not saying they were made by aliens, but it does make you wonder, and that's part of it for me.

As far as the god thing, didn't humans create the idea of God? Maybe they didn't think of themselves as Gods if they do exist.

One segment of the show talked about US planes landing on remote Pacific islands during WW2. The islanders were relatively primitive and had never seen airplanes or any other modern technology. They treated the soldiers as Gods and some still consider them as such. They call them Cargo Cults. Good info on the subject here: Cargo cult - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

I don't know whether they've talked about Göbekli Tepe on the show yet, but if not, I'm sure it's coming. Göbekli Tepe was some kind of religious center built 12,000 years ago. According to the mainstream theories, that predates the Neolithic Revolution, including the invention of pottery, the wheel, writing, metallurgy, agriculture and animal husbandry. The complex includes huge stone pillars weighing up to 50 tons. There is a wiki page, of course: Göbekli Tepe - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia. How and why would such a thing be built so long ago? We are talking about Stone Age people building this thing. Something just doesn't add up.

I missed that one. I'll have to look it up. About to listen to Coast to Coast. Sounds like a pretty good show last night.

The stuff that gets me is the underwater remanants of cities. The last time some of these places were above water was during the last ice age, which predates all accepted theories about early human civilization. We are talking massive structures with right angels, etc. They were either built long before any other civilization, or they were built below water.

Isn't there one that was found in Asia? An underwater city found recently?
