And Now Kiffin Interested in Boyd? He might have blown it on this one.

It's like those guys when a girl breaks up with them...they can't move on.

No matter who else comes along ( Oregon, OSU, etc.) they keep going back to her.

UT is the one that broke his heart...

smart kid, saying "kiffin called" to make him look better !!!

"Coach Kiffin called my coach's friends babysitters uncle, and Kiff said he really wants me to come to UT after he saw my totally bad ass performance in the AA game."

Maybe the kid still wants t come to UT and is trying to make it look good in front of his family and friends if he still comes to UT..

judging by the quarterback situation UT has right now, Kiffin may end up being an idiot for telling this guy he wouldn't fit in the system. Kiffin wants a dropback QB and Boyd isn't that far from being that type of QB. He is somewhat mobile, but not like a tyrod taylor or anything. Unless Kiffin pulls a 5star QB out of his a@# any time soon, he may regret the decision to let Boyd go. But, Jon Crompton was a four star quarterback too, so maybe Im completely wrong. You guys have seen how the Crompton experiment worked out.

We all need to remember that Crompton was judged last year in a new system where he had no protection and was expected to create Tebow like plays. Have to be realistic about the situation and know that one year in a different system than what Cut had would not work out especially since our O-line couldn't break wind without falling over. Give our coaches a chance to work with our guns............we might be surprised........and then maybe not but if CLK thinks that we have good potential at our qb position then who am I to judge (for now).

This reminds me of that high schooler in Nevada who committed to Cal and said Tedford himself recruited him yet the Cal coaches said they never heard of him.

How about a theory about CLK actually being a good person and he called to congratulate him on his performance in 5he AA bowl.

Boyd's not a pro style qb. I don't care how good he looked in that AA game. Crompton looked great in his AA game, look how that turned out.

Crompton looked terrible in the Army AA game. It was hard to place the blame on Crompton, because, his O-line could not block in that game.

Maybe Kiffin called Boyd's coach to tell him that he did, in fact, see the game (since his coach asked), to congratulate Boyd on a good game, and to tell him that unfortunately Boyd still does not fit his system. But good luck wherever he ends up.

I agree with volfan69, Crompton may have some real potential but the system that he was in last year was, lets face it, less than explosive. Remember this, our running game, sucked. Pass blocking, sucked. Run blocking, sucked. IN fact the whole entire offense was horrible, Kudos to Fulmer trying something new, but maybe he should have stuck with Tenn. Football and not MTSU football.

we are poor at QB right now, even with an ofensive line, iknow a bit about quarterbacking, we need matt simms, and boyd ala dickey and robinson, I DONT like this single back system we are gona have.aparently.
we need a good solid FB/XB ala james wilder bet half you dont remember him with the bucks back in the day, he could run the ball even had couple 1000 yrd seasons as fb, one of the best catching FB's outa the backf field ever, and he could knock a line backer on his ass @ 6'0 244 and ran about a 4.45 40 and this was in the early=late 80s. then we need a small quick back, ala oku that can make some stuff happen, and we needa normal 5'11 215 tauren poole/lennon creer type. but mainly i dont care what kiff says we need that bad ass versitle FB.

How have you gotten the impression that we are going to use a one back system and not employ a FB?

“I think coach Kiffin may have called my coach or something,” Boyd said.
If coach Kiffin calls, Boyd's statement is more like, "Coach Kiffin called my coach and expressed interest."
If coach Kiffin didn't call this never even gets brought up.
If Boyd is just pulling junk out of the air his statement is, "“I think coach Kiffin may have called my coach or something.”

"I think coach Kiffin may have called my coach or something,” Boyd said. “I haven’t talked to him. I think I may have opened a lot of eyes during the Army All-America game, but I’m not looking at Tennessee.
“I don’t want to bad mouth any program, but I think coach Kiffin should have waited to see me play before saying I didn’t fit his system,” he said. “But I wish them the best."

That is the entire quote from the article. Tajh is a great kid and even if Kiffin called he is not interested in us. He will do well wherever he ends up.

Hey! You have no right to insult MTSU football like that! :)

I am not buying this at all. I don't see Kiffin going back after this kid after he told him he didn't fit his system. Sounds to me like Boyd is just bitter, and is finding it hard to believe UT didn't want his services.

There is no way that Kiffin called this kid. Just sounds like sour grapes on his part. After this character showing, I'm feeling pretty good about CLK's decision.

jay...
You have no clue about his character. He is one of the most respectful teenagers you can be around. By the way... Kiffin did call but no worries... hope our QB situation can work itself out.

Where in the world do you get that from?

The quote doesn't assure that at all (as has been explained here multiple times).
