And some of you guys think we'll finish 8-4

I understand that, but I think as many as 4-5 could have huge impacts. Guys like Hendrix, Kelly, bates, a berry or two, Hurd I mean there is talent all over the place. Others can provide much needed depth and speed at every level. Bottom line is I think 7-5 or 8-4 is not as unlikely as many here would think.

You forgot the huge upgrade in talent at TE with Wolf and Helm, at CB#2 and IMO Safety with TK2 and Cortez.

My 2 wildcards for a miracle 8-4 season are. New staff, scheme, have settled in and will shine. New players are highly talented. One can hope.

Every year guys get on here and suggest that the incoming Freshman players are going to come in and be better than or just as good as the 3-4 year starters that just graduated. And every year, when those Freshmen don't live up to the expectations set for them, the fans start all over suggesting that they will be replaced by the next crop of incoming players. It seems to be a very cyclical process on VN.

Those 14 EE players will more resemble RS FR or SO than true FR.

Except its actual talent on its way in the door. Dont have the "woe is me, we're never going bowling again attitude." You all act like 7-8 wins means we are saying thatwe have a team full of 1st round draft picks.

Spot on.. Its because of the highlights films against horrible players in HS gets people thinking that they will translate easy vs SEC talent.... You might see 1 or 2 but I have never seem 10+ in 1 class.🏉

In the predictions thread I saw most people picking 6-6 with a few 7-5 picks which I think is realistic when looking at the schedule...8-4 is definitely being optimistic but is there anything wrong with that?...I will say that Dave Hart needs to insist on having our conference schedule shuffled. Once we have reestablished ourselves as a contender again and Vandy assumes it's position at the bottom (they will both happen) October is going to be too much of a gauntlet while November is too easy. We need to move either Kentucky or Missouri to the end of September or first of October and move either Georgia or Florida to the end of November. Our schedule is grossly out of balance.

Let's play the gators at the end of the year. Put us right between their USCe and FSU games.

I don't take this stuff so serious that I get a "woe is me" attitude, so I think you miss interpreted what I said. I'm simply pointing out something that happens on here every single year.

I remember reading the same arguments about western Kentucky last year. Hell they even had the bobby petrino factor. How did that turn out?

The biggest issue I take from these type of threads is how fans get criticized for being optimistic. Why are fans not allowed to be hopeful after a great recruiting season? We saw a vast improvement on the field last year after only one year of CBJ doing his thing. Is it not conceivable that even more improvement can be expected in year two along with factoring in the increase in team talent across the board?

Go Vols!

There is nothing wrong at all with being optimistic, but there shouldn't be anything wrong with being realistic, either.

If it makes you feel any better, fans get criticized just as much for being realistic.

We def got an upgrade in talent.. Just need a little experience.

This time next year we can talk about winning 8, not this year to young with a little luck maybe 7, if somehow we could win 7 and win the bowl, we will be our way back to the top of the EAST very fast, the top recruits will come in bunches to Knoxville Tennessee in the year 2016.

We will beat the gators, the streak will end this year not next year this year I can feel it, book it mark it down, bet the farm, the house the wife whatever you got the streak will end this year.:clapping:This young talent will see to that the streak ends this year, but on the down side we might lose one that we should win, that's the way it goes with young talent, they will be a few down this year to, but we are headed back in the right direction for the first time sense Phil was here, in 16 we will rule the EAST again and kick the gators and bamas of the world azz year in year out, we just got to be patient this year with this young team, and keep the talent rolling into Knoxville Tennessee.

to be 8-4 we would need a lot of breaks and some good fortune. More like 6-6 or maybe 7-5. If we have the same injury luck we've endured last year it's gonna be another 3 or 4 win season. We have a tough tough schedule. We are two years away, but make no mistake about it we are on the way!

Everyone knows we have some serious upgrade to our talent but lets get real. A bunch of talented freshmen will not run rough shod thru the SEC. It's just not gonna happen. I love Tennessee and bleed orange as much as anyone but I'm also a realist. This team is just too young. Look at the roster. Way too many freshmen and sophomores.

I'm not gonna set myself up for major disappointment and listen to everyone say fire Butch when the losses mount up. A class full of talented freshmen will make plenty of freshmen mistakes and those mistakes will cost us some games.

Also, I haven't seen anyone mention the great unknown. The injury bug. I hope and pray we can make it thru the year without any major injuries but I can't remember a year when we didn't have major injuries to key guys.

Just my opinion guys.

Peterman looked like the 2nd coming of Dan Marino on film, so yeah you're probably correct.

And it goes the other way too.....we could have the 90s teams back and ppl would still be saying we wont make a bowl

What baffles me is that so many on here think we will absolutely go down to Columbia and take care of business against USCjr. Did anyone notice they return the most players in the SEC, we play at their house, and that Spurrier might be a little motivated to prove to his fanbase that last year was a fluke?

We beat them last yr and should've beat them the yr before. We are a more athletic team now and theyre defense isnt anything to talk about. They have an explosive offense but I think that we will be able to keep up.

We were one play away from beating Georgia last year. One play.

South Carolina and Georgia in a down year?

Had we pulled that upset, would any of y'all's opinions be different?

I just see and feel something brewing, that once it forms, there will be no putting it back in the bottle. It's coming.
