I understand that, but I think as many as 4-5 could have huge impacts. Guys like Hendrix, Kelly, bates, a berry or two, Hurd I mean there is talent all over the place. Others can provide much needed depth and speed at every level. Bottom line is I think 7-5 or 8-4 is not as unlikely as many here would think.
Every year guys get on here and suggest that the incoming Freshman players are going to come in and be better than or just as good as the 3-4 year starters that just graduated. And every year, when those Freshmen don't live up to the expectations set for them, the fans start all over suggesting that they will be replaced by the next crop of incoming players. It seems to be a very cyclical process on VN.

In the predictions thread I saw most people picking 6-6 with a few 7-5 picks which I think is realistic when looking at the schedule...8-4 is definitely being optimistic but is there anything wrong with that?...I will say that Dave Hart needs to insist on having our conference schedule shuffled. Once we have reestablished ourselves as a contender again and Vandy assumes it's position at the bottom (they will both happen) October is going to be too much of a gauntlet while November is too easy. We need to move either Kentucky or Missouri to the end of September or first of October and move either Georgia or Florida to the end of November. Our schedule is grossly out of balance.
Except its actual talent on its way in the door. Dont have the "potentialwoe is me, we're never going bowling again attitude." You all act like 7-8 wins means we are saying thatwe have a team full of 1st round draft picks.
I remember reading the same arguments about western Kentucky last year. Hell they even had the bobby petrino factor. How did that turn out?
The biggest issue I take from these type of threads is how fans get criticized for being optimistic. Why are fans not allowed to be hopeful after a great recruiting season? We saw a vast improvement on the field last year after only one year of CBJ doing his thing. Is it not conceivable that even more improvement can be expected in year two along with factoring in the increase in team talent across the board?
Go Vols!

If it makes you feel any better, fans get criticized just as much for being realistic.I remember reading the same arguments about western Kentucky last year. Hell they even had the bobby petrino factor. How did that turn out?

We def got an upgrade in talent.. Just need a little experience.
Do I think we will win 8 games no I don't. Is it possible of course ole miss Florida south Carolina and even georiga are beatable. Oklahoma is as well depending on which ou team shows up. Alabama well no but we have alot to play for this year and expect to see a better football team.
Spot on.. Its because of the highlights films against horrible players in HS gets people thinking that they will translate easy vs SEC talent.... You might see 1 or 2 but I have never seem 10+ in 1 class.🏉
I love your thinking there is no team I hate more than florida. We will beat the gators, the streak will end this year not next year this year I can feel it, book it mark it down, bet the farm, the house the wife whatever you got the streak will end this year.:clapping:This young talent will see to that the streak ends this year, but on the down side we might lose one that we should win, that's the way it goes with young talent, they will be a few down this year to, but we are headed back in the right direction for the first time sense Phil was here, in 16 we will rule the EAST again and kick the gators and bamas of the world azz year in year out, we just got to be patient this year with this young team, and keep the talent rolling into Knoxville Tennessee.
I don't take this stuff so serious that I get a "woe is me" attitude, so I think you miss interpreted what I said. I'm simply pointing out something that happens on here every single year.
What baffles me is that so many on here think we will absolutely go down to Columbia and take care of business against USCjr. Did anyone notice they return the most players in the SEC, we play at their house, and that Spurrier might be a little motivated to prove to his fanbase that last year was a fluke?
