It was actually the second or third time Johnson had knocked Finnegan's helmet off. Finnegan was instructed to jam him at the line. Johnson tore his helmet off on a similar play earlier. Finnegan went right to Johnson's facemask on that play. Johnson had already knocked Finnegan's helmet off when he tried to jam him.

Only one guy threw fists though. Say what you want about Finnegan but he wasn't throwing fists. Says more about Johnson's character to me.

Finnegan talks trash and plays physical, wish he'd cover somebody ever now and then though.
Chuck Cecil's defense plays that way, the whole bunch, i don't condone it, and i'm not a big Cecil fan. Watch some of Chuck's playing days and you'll realize he wasn't the nicest guy out there.

NFL makes a statement to Mr Finnegan: No suspension for Johnson and only a $25k fine lol. :cray:

25k each...doesn't suprise me that they had matching punishments (don't necessarily agree with it), but it does suprise me that neither of them got suspended. Goodell likes to make examples out of people. Someone posted earlier that max fine for fighting was 25k, so may be something that is in the CBA that saved them from bigger fines or suspension.

It's amazing people are trying to make Finnegan out to be the good guy in any way. I saw the replay again and Finnegan did make a swing, only Johnson still had his helmet on at the time.

Maybe he did , but i only witnessed one guy throwing haymakers. No Finnegan plays dirty sometimes, but i've never witnessed him taking swings at people. Heat of the moment deal i guess. Maybe they play each other clean next time. Problem with that is, if you let a receiver like Johnson off the line of scrimmage without jamming him then you're conceding yardage to him.
This isn't the first time these two have went at each other, just never blew up this way before.

Both players were jammed up, helmets come off in situations like that when players get physical. However, Finnegan almost ripped Johnson's head off.

The was the boiling point. It had been going on all game. Johnson was taking exception to Finnegan playing like he always plays.

I wouldn't call Johnson a coward. He just escalated what Finnegan started. I thought Johnson definitely deserved a bigger fine than Finnegan. Kind of scratching my head on that one.

Also, I wouldn't be talking Johnson up like he's some tough guy. He's twice the size of Finnegan and threw a few hay-makers when Finnegan wasn't protecting himself against that and it got broken up before Finnegan could come back on him. Point is, they didn't even phase Finnegan. He stood right up with a smile.

I don't think people are cheering what Johnson did but rather whom he did it to IMO. As far as Johnson's punishment goes the League already had enough egg on it's face because of years of Finnegan's antics, why add more?

The "Coward" appears to be getting far from negative pub from all this. It sounds more like the talking heads are praising his efforts for beating the "F" out of innigan.

Cortland Innegan, because Andre Johnson beat the "F" out of him.
