Andrew Hendrix & Tommy Rees Status at ND

Nobody on this board has a clue who the starting qb next year will be.

Couldn't agree more. I mean if Nick couldn't beat out JC in the first couple of games, obviously I'm glad he didn't, how could he lead this team next year. Plus anything could happen with Bray or Rees.............it's gonna be crazy to watch.

1) Watch some video of each

2) Compare their SR year stats

That should answer your question.

So everyone on here feels that way because they have seen extensive tape on both then?

Right!

I believe one of the supposed recruiting guru's stated his opinion and everyone else fell in line.

all the nit picks that say bray is rediculously better than rees: is this your opinion.. if so please state that, because our Offensive coordinator's favorite qb happens to be rees.(sorry about source, can't find but people can back me up). Idk about the rest of the staff but I'm sure he's near, if not at the top of the board for qb, and will be pursued....imo

After what I witnessed this year, this staff will make a good QB out of somebody.
Stephens, Bray, Rees (if), whoever they pick.

High level talent is great, but developing is half the puzzle.

I dont think the staff is nearly as high on Pick Nick as they seemed during the QB "competition" during the fall and spring. He will have to improve a LOT by all accounts from inside the program. There is a good reason that CLK stood behind JC so steadfastly early this season when he was playing terrible....and our OC even said it.... if Nick got put in, fans would be screaming for JC back in there. One thing we know for SURE is that Bray will get the opportunity to beat him out. If Bray picks up the system mentally well enough, I dont think there is anyone that would say Nick is more "talented" than Bray. I just want the guy in there who can win games for us, even if it is Lamaison.

That was a comment about the fans that was taken out of context, and had nothing to do with Stephens' ability...he was commenting on how with Crompton in, fans want Stephens, and if Stephens started, fans would want Crompton. The backup QB is always the most popular because fans usually have no idea what they are talking about.

I believe our coaches (Chaney especially) have loved Rees' skills from the first time they watched him throw...

Kind of like a Jonathan Crompton had to improve a LOT?

You're taking that out of context. He meant it as, "As soon as he does bad, you'll be screaming for Jonathan" a la the situation we had the year before.

Yes, Nick is more talented then Bray and will definitely start next year. He is a grown ass man as a Senior and has had 4 years to prepare against SEC players and defense in practices and games.

He's had a full year in Kiffin's offense and will have a full off-season to work under Kiffin, Ausmus, and Chaney to build his game to where it needs to be.

There is absoultely no way Lamaison ever sees the field. Get with it man.

No. Bray is vastly more talented than Stephens, but I agree with everything else in your post...

Say we turn Rees, who do you think would win in a head to head challenge? I'm assuming the loser would redshirt.

Bray may have more long term potential which may result in him becoming more successful than Stephens but to say he is more talented is reaching...Stephens may have issues BUT talent has never been one of them.

Does our staff also pursue DE Chris Martin (5 star) and open up Giovanni Bernard's recruitment?

Bray might have more long-term potential but from Day 1 when they are pitted against eachother for the starting job, I feel like he will be less talented then Stephens (as it stands on that day).

It's no fault of Bray's... He will have to pay his dues like all the great quarterbacks do.

Besides, I would rather see Stephens behind the O-line to start the season, to get a good feel of what kind of pass block we will have.

I would hate to see an Erik Ainge scenairo with one of our freshman QBs :frown:

it would be nice to get another QB this class and Rees would be a very good pickup but Bray would win in the competition between the two, IMO.

I really want Bray to start in 2010, but Stephens will be the starter. Bray will backup Stephens, IMO, unless Rees is just a much more talented guy than Bray and we land him.

I think UT needs Bray and Rees. Get them to camp and let both compete and see who is better. Plus, good competition will make both better.

Yeah, he really showed his maturity last year during the South Carolina game while jumping up and down like a toddler on the sidelines.

Well that's the great thing about life Volfan8282.

People make mistakes and they have a chance to learn from them and correct them.

Which is worse, him getting pissed and throwing a tantrum, or Briscoe over there yucking it up while his team is getting it's collective ass handed to it?

No way Stephens is more talented than Bray but yes he has been here for a while and will probably get the job. I just hope he doesnt turn out like Joe Cox at Georgia...They shoulda pulled him a long time ago and went with Aaron Murry.

Forget the QB's-is there anyone else in that class that TN was recruiting? What about the DE-Martin?

Is Rees really that good? Yes I realize that our staff is better at evaluating talent than me, but so are other staffs and this kids offer list is pretty terrible (other than us and ND). Just sayin
