Whether he is guilty or not, being able to hold someone indefinitely without even charging them is damn scary.

Dude hasn’t even been charged yet and is in a cell for 90 plus days.

The NDAA allows the US to have indefinite detention as well (or did pretty recently).

Legally and illegally, it happens in the USA as well to MANY incarcerated people, most often to minorities, but does happen to others as well.

Or there are the cases like Kalief Bowder where he was accused of stealing a backpack (that he didn't have) and he was locked up until he got his court date years later. He spent like 2 years in solitary because gangs were jumping him. His accuser left the country and that was the only evidence they had. Still didn't drop charges for a while. All would have gone away from the start if he pled guilty. At least he knew what the specific charges were, I guess.

He finally got out at like age 19 and killed himself.

This is America.

Yes, this stuff still happens. Not all receive it, but thank goodness for the people who donate their time, energy, money, and dedication to the Innocence Project. A lot of times, convictions are based on lying, bigoted, dirty cops and persecutors who actually know the person is innocent. Now, as for Andrew Tate, I don't know much of anything about him beyond accusations of being a low life. If he is innocent, I hope he doesn't get railroaded based on nothing, or purely a falsehood. And time traveler Greta, some days I like her, some days I think she should just shut up. But then, I could say the same about me too, and a fair deal of folks on this forum.

I’ve always been curious , how do you decide which account you will use to post ? Flip a coin , how many times your cats meow at morning Joe , or is it trigger words from binge watching the View ?

I wonder what the actual crimes are. By "child trafficking" it might just be they unknowingly had sex with a 17 YO prostitute. But you read "child trafficking" and your brain thinks they got a basement full of 8 YO's. I guess wait and see.

Sex with a 17 year old is had enough IMO..... But I agree, I am curious to know exactly what this guy did.

Of course.

I'm so tired of the government and media making everything into the biggest deal they possibly can. It's been this way with trafficking for a decade+. We used to call it "soliciting a prostitute" but now the headlines say "trafficking charges" and it makes it sound like the guy is a pimp.

I actually know a kid whose life was ruined in a sting. He, along with a local college professor, and some other local normies got busted answering an online ad for a prostitute. The kid was a good kid. Return missionary for the LDS church, just not a lady's man and very lonely. Derailed his life for the next 5 years. In our little community, it's a scarlet letter and he wasn't exactly a socialite before that. Broskie got hooked up with a Filipina and it's all good now. That's a guy with "trafficking" charges. I don't understand this world.
