Wasn't Fulmer the offensive coordinator?

Yes CPF was the OC. Ward called the FG at the end "good" but saw Fulmer hugging Cutcliffe and realized the field goal by ND was actually "no good". Give CPF credit for not panicking in the second half and slowly chipping down the large Irish lead.

Or Henton?

My guess is no. Kelly will get credit for 89 and 90. Dickey will get credit for 85.

Kelly was the best at taking two steps turning and handing the ball to the running back. That 89 Auburn game was a prime example of that. Kelly was tough no doubt!

Watching that video with video quality of WW2 films makes me feel old. I played HS ball against C Flemming.

Played at Oakland. He played QB at Stratford. His RB James Campbell was unreal in HS.

I was a FR in college and remember going to watch him play McMinn County when Johnny came to watch as well. I remember being excited about him becoming a Vol.

TRIVIA: Can anyone name the former vol from McMinn County who played against Kelly in that game?

Like Volru said

South Bend

That cemented him in my book of Vol legends

Best Father son weekend I ever had with my Dad..We sat in end zone about 10 rows from scoreboard. Guy behind us bought a fistful of victory cigars that ND fans were selling at halftime. Went on the field after the game with players Had picture taken with Andy on the field and rocky top was played for a half hour..It was surreal

That was the only call I think I ever remember John Ward making that was wrong! I sure am glad he missed it though...I was in NYC watching on TV & was so disgusted at half time I went for a walk. Came back & got to see the 4th qtr. couldn't believe what I was watching!
Andy Kelly's teammates gave him the nickname Mamaw because he ran like an old lady! 😃

Kelly's 1990 outing against Notre Dame was one of the great quarterback performances in Vol history, though all but forgotten because of that last interception. He was 35/60 for 399 yards in that game. I'm glad he got his revenge in the Miracle.

That 1990 game was the best game I ever remember that we lost! So disappointing but what a classic! And revenge WAS sweet!
