That 1990 game was the best game I ever remember that we lost! So disappointing but what a classic! And revenge WAS sweet!

Yes I was a freshmen that year. There were rumors that they were limiting students tickets. Tons of students camped out in front of the UC on Sunday night to get that Monday ticket. Great times! Florida, Bama and ND home games that year.

Watching that video with video quality of WW2 films makes me feel old. I played HS ball against C Flemming.

Played at Oakland. He played QB at Stratford. His RB James Campbell was unreal in HS.

Joseph Campbell. I always knew him as Frog.

Tennessee recruited em but like most colleges they wanted him to play db. He went to MTSU so he could play rb.

Had an Anthropology class with his girlfriend back in the late 80's. Andy was enrolled in the class too but I never once saw him until the day of finals. She was sweet and drop dead gorgeous and took all his notes for him.

Anywho, he was a great UT QB, especially in comparison to the Sterling Hinton era.

Shazon Bradley

Ding. Ding. We have a winner. Funny story. I was a Senior when Shazon was a Freshman. In addition to starting on defense and offense, I somehow got the job of punter. We didn't have a punter on the JV team, so the coach asked me to go play the JV game against McMinn County so we would have a punter.

We had a couple of injuries on defense so he put me in. On about the third play, Shazon came around the end running straight at me to block me. I'm thinking, I'm going to knock this FR out, then it occurred to me, he's huge (I was 6'1, 200). At the last second, I sidestepped him stuck my lug out and basically tripped him. He was pissed. I remember thinking at that time, that kid is a beast and will probably play college somewhere.

Okay, I'll be the first to say it. Andy has not aged well. Maybe it's just a bad pic.

If you've seen the legend series on the quarterbacks.. Andy Kelly talks about being a little kid and literally crying whenever the Vols lost on a Saturday.. I can relate to that haha. The guy is all Vol and bleeds orange. One of my favorite Vols. Hope to meet him someday

He is a BMF no doubt! I first saw him in Chattanooga at the wrestling tournament. He was a stud!! One of my all time favorite vols!
Great story btw!

No doubt he was a scarry dude.

We had some good players from that region in the 80's:
Shazon Bradley (McMinn County)
Andy Kelly (Rhea County)
Robby Scott (Meigs County, my alma matter)
Cedric Kline (Loudon)
Terence Cleveland (Sweetwater)

It was Joe. Thanks.

I remember our HC saying before the kick off to kick it out of bounds before kicking to him.

Our kicker kicked it to the goal line and he went 100 yards. Dude was good.

Andy Kelly was in nearby Dayton helping with a camp for the kiddies, just generally being the great guy he is.

“When I was your age, I always tried to do my best to listen to my coaches, and I tried to work really hard and I also tried to have a lot of fun,” said Kelly to the campers. “I think that’s really important at this age you guys and girls are at right now."

Kelly, and fellow VFL Gerald Riggs were showing other potential VFL's how it's done.

boy, it really is that simple isn't it? That's the kind of life advice that works for everyone, every age.

What a good dude. He used to always sit in the same corner of TBA for basketball games in the early 90s when I was there. Had a few state of the Vols conversations with him. A lot of fun...good memories.

Yeh....kicking it to him was always a mistake.

Andy was wearing orange & white when he was in the 3rd grade. There was never any doubt where he was going to college.
