Angels have landed

No doubt.

The ideal air show for me would have just been if they had the statics out for display until about noon, then give them each a chance to fly around a little bit. I love A-10s. B-1Bs are impressive as hell to see streak over top of you. Even C-17s are cool to watch because they're so damn big.

B1 just flew out not long ago...damned impressive looking airplanes. (variable geometry wings just look cool)

If you want to be impressed by sheer airplane size the C5 is 50+ feet in length and wingspan to a C17. It doesn't look like something that size should fly.

You all need to attend an Air Show at an active duty air base.

I've seen a B52 at Blytheville AFB come in about 200 ft above the runway and then pull straight up. Efing Crazy! That same pilot, a couple years later, buzzed a tower, and a couple years after that, he was hotdoging it and crashed.

Finding food and drink on an active duty base during an air show shouldn't be an issue.

Go TBirds!!!

Was this the dumbass that crashed at Fairchild?

I got to talk to the B-1 pilot this afternoon. They said they enjoyed Knoxville.

The airshow part of this event was great. The people part of the event was FUBARed. There was no reason why old people should be expected to walk 2 miles to get to or from the event to parking. Shuttle buses should have ran back and forth and water vendors should have been every 200 feet apart.

I think they could have doubled their revenue had they charged for a shuttle service and offered water or any kind of drink at 20 or 30 places.

I've got some family that lives real close to Dyess where those guys were out of. Definitely worth hanging around when they're flying.

Found out we had some mutual friends in Abilene. Small world.

We used to load 2 Seahawks in a C5 when we went across the pond.

Jump seats suck!

can only speak for C-130s and Cessnas there, but yeah they do.

There is an exception though. We took a C-130 from, umm one undisclosed location to 2 more undisclosed locations. It was a packed bird and they put the passenger seats in the middle. Every seat was taken and we were all in full battle rattle. They informed us as we were initially boarding that every seat would be used once we picked up the rest of the passengers at the first stop. I was smart enough to grab a jump seat. Everyone was crunched and uncomfortable in the passenger seats. Me, I had my legs stretched out and all the arm space I could ask for!

I hate those seats. On long cross country or international flights, I'd string up my hammock over the ramp, plus it's nice and cool back there and I can shut off the lights.

Started out in jump seat on a 141 to Panama. Only 7 pax. Load master told too lay where we want after we reached altitude, thank goodness.

Jump seats on a 17 from Hurlburt to Qatar. Lots of pax. Couldn't feel my legs when we got there. Lol. Nyquil can be a friend.:)

on said trip, those of us in jump seats were able to move about more freely.

I befriended enough people in PAX that when I went to bring my unit home from Afghanistan we got a C-17 all to ourselves. Room for days. Only requirement was that something was on each pallet. One pallet consisted of my duffel and someone's guitar.

I noticed on Sat. before the F-16 took off they cleared the road (from the parking area to the show on the Louisville Rd. side) of pedestrians...caused a delay of 30-40 minutes. The road was also cleared before the Angels took off. What's the reason for that? The roads weren't cleared for the other acts. Thanks.

We carried a full load into Khandahar and came back with an empty load except for Tim Horton donuts. I even strap them down to the floor. Made a cool pic.

I happened to show up about the time they closed that road. I was told that they closed it for safety reasons because of the jets.

It was kind of funny as the military folks were yelling at old craps like me telling me I needed to move faster or I'd have to wait with them for an hour.

I love our military, they are polite and respectful. That's a rare combination anymore.

Thanks for the explanation. I thought it was for safety reasons but the planes are flying all over the place. And the road is below the level of the runaways. Better safe than sorry.
