I happened to show up about the time they closed that road. I was told that they closed it for safety reasons because of the jets.
It was kind of funny as the military folks were yelling at old craps like me telling me I needed to move faster or I'd have to wait with them for an hour.
I love our military, they are polite and respectful. That's a rare combination anymore.
I'm getting a kick out of all of the airshow critiques.
Here is a pic seconds before it went straight into the ground at Fairchild in 1994. I watched a 45 second video of this crash. It appeared he was trying too buzz the tower and failed.

So there were 4 guys in the B52 and one of them was the co-pilot who actually went on the flight to try and stop this idiot from doing the maneuvers. The pilot was trying to fly the B52 like it was a fighter jet. They could have egressed by popping the hatch but it was already too late. This idiot got himself killed along with 3 other people for nothing. I read somewhere that someone actually tried to eject but ultimately landed in the fire ball.
