Anonymous coach to The Athletic: "Tennessee is one of the best teams I've seen in the last 10 years"

Big difference between “disappointed” and “hugely disappointed”, IMO. When I think about being hugely disappointed, I imagine myself losing confidence in Heupel. I think he’s positioned us to be perennial national championship contenders and I don’t expect that to change even if we go 8-4. It’s only a matter of time before we get the OL playing better and things slow down for Nico. If we lose a couple more games before that happens, I’ll be disappointed but not “hugely”
Lol. Okay.

There's a reason you're sitting on a couch on Saturdays instead of coaching from the sidelines. You can't see the forest from the trees. I'll bet anything after we beat Bama you'll change your tune.
You gonna own up to being a moronic troll if we lose to bama at home ?

Sorry but the results and the eye test so far do not support that evaluation. Evidently that coach doesn’t pay attention to offensive line play and in particular pass blocking. We may beat Bama but that has to improve Saturday. Now if you say the defense looks the best we’ve had in 10 years, I’ll buy that.

Almost every national champion has an ugly game or two on their championship journey. These last 2 games were just that. Our stinkers in an otherwise dominant season. Just watch how we respond tomorrow against Alabama. I suspect yall tune will change greatly.

We’ve pooped the bed offensively starting with the second half of the OU game. We’ve scored 43 points in those 10 quarters. I don’t think that’s an outlier. But I hope you are right

We took our foot off the gas in the second half against Oklahoma. No reason to risk turnovers against a team that couldn't score that game. We've only played bad the last 2 games.

This is what I've been saying for months now. He also said the loss to Arkansas was the best thing to happen to us. Just like I did. This coach is super smart and knows what he's talking about.
I knew you would jump on this. As usual, you are wrong.

If they are calling this a top 10 team over the last 10 years then they are making a mockery of top 10 teams.

Lots of national champions looked very similar to us through 6 games of a season. As I said earlier, the 2014 Ohio State team had an ugly 14-point loss at home to a 7-5 Virginia-Tech team. The 2015 Alabama team lost at home to a Ole Miss that two weeks later lost by 28 points to Florida. And the 2016 Clemson team struggled in Week 1 against a mediocre Auburn team before only beating Troy by 6 points at home. All three of those eventual national champions had way more questions swirling around them than we do this early in the season.

The sign of a champion is not ever facing adversity but rather how you respond to it. All three of those teams improved as the season progressed and when the postseason arrived they started dominating. I feel our journey will be the same. We're facing adversity right now. We'll become better because of it. And once the postseason arrives we'll have a legendary run.

"Anonymous"=no credibility. If you're not willing to put a name on something like this, I dismiss it out of hand. Didn't bother clicking the link because I suspect that's precisely what the "author" was after.
There is no legitimate head coach worth anything that could have made these statements.

Here are the national champions of the past 10 years:

OSU- 2014
Bama- 2015
Clemson- 2016
Bama- 2017
Clemson- 2018
LSU- 2019
Bama- 2020
UGA-2021
UGA- 2022
Michigan- 2023

Take your ridiculous homerism out of it and think logically. Which team on this list are we better than?

We're better than all of them. Second place would be 2014 Ohio State. Third place is 2019 LSU.

The Athletic is a reputable service and they are the ones who interviewed this coach. I'm saying he's super smart because he sees what I see. A generational team that should be considered the odds on favorite to win it all.
Anyone who believes that what D4H is spouting is gospel needs a different Bible. May be the greatest Jinxster ever.

“We’ve only played bad the last 2 games”. Which also were against teams that weren’t ranked. Why do you think the offense will wake up against a ranked team??

If this team had stud OT's I would agree. But the OT's have been terrible. You can't be elite with bad OT's.

Cause that's football. It's where Kentucky can get blown out at home 31-6 by South Carolina then turn around and win 20-17 at Ole Miss who then goes to South Carolina and wins 27-3.

Trying to use the transitive property in sports never works. Each game is an entity all to it's own. I personally expect our offense to go off today. Why? Because we're a great team that just had a slight mid-season slump.

That must make Arkansas the best team of the century

Sadly instead of asking how good we are, we should be asking how bad are we?

South Carolina is now routing Oklahoma.

I do think Oklahoma has more injuries and the QB change has hurt them not helped after Venables got some feel good moments with late TDs against us.
