Another bad apple (George Floyd case)

I don’t care what color the cop or the deceased man are, this is horrible. There was absolutely no reason to continue leaning on the man and the other office never even bothered to see what was going on. Realistically, I doubt the crowd control cop gets nailed with any charges but I could be wrong. The killer cop is screwed and deservedly so. It would be nice if we could just deal with the fact that a cop unnecessarily killed a man but I know that isn’t the way this will go. Instead, it will be about a WHITE cop killing a BLACK man. That’s what I hate about this ****. If that was a black cop that killed a white man the same way we wouldn’t even hear about it and it would be no less tragic.

And there would not be riots.

Seems they can only arrest reporters
It's CNN, those weren't real reporters. . .

Well they have arrested him. Third degree murder and manslaughter.

That should quell all the riots, right?

Should have never been any.

There is a time for stern leadership and it wasnt exercised here, which was a mistake.

The pendulum swings in this culture are epically awful. Some cop does something terrible and for some reason people believe this means it is ok to accept rioting.

This tragedy is why all the second amendment haters sound so dumb when they say the police and military should be the only citizens armed.

Could imagine the carnage inflected by the government thugs if they took the guns from law abiding citizens.

so 7 years in a minimum security pen ? or some lawyer and a weak SA cut a deal ?
By the law that is setup if you charge Murder-1 or Murder-2 you have to show that he intended to kill him prior to the confrontation. If you don't have any evidence to back that up are you going to charge anyway and make everyone feel better until the trial when he walks in a second when it can't be proved.

Doesn't mean I agree, but by my understanding of the law, 3rd degree is the right charge. This is all about what you can prove to a jury.

Other guys in the legal profession can weigh in but that is how I understand it.

Questions for the board:

Would this officer have been charged had this not been filmed?

Would this officer be in custody right now had there not been rioting and protesting last night?
Others have been. In Minneapolis a few years ago when the white lady got shot. Took them 8 months to arrest the cop, no riots or anything.

No and No.

We just seen three cops stand and watch as a fourth murdered a defenseless person so only a fool would believe that if not on film that this government thug would have been arrested.

The dead guy had resisted arrest. I don't know if he continued to do so after being cuffed. That being said, there was no need to keep a knee on the guy's neck - especially after he said he couldn't breathe. To me, zap folks with the taser as many times as necessary and be done with any and all resisting mess.
He did not actually resist arrest at all. The store camera caught all the footage from the beginning so please check your facts before spewing garbage.

No to both.

Admin leave with pay while internal investigation underway.

He did resist. It was passive in nature not active resistance which is the crux of the issue
So talking is resisting? He didn't put his hands on the officer at all if you want to go back and watch the video. There was absolutely no justification for what transpired. People like you are part of the problem. Always a "but"

The talking wasn’t the resisting. The going limp on purpose and pulling away is

Is there any responsibility placed on the police chief (who is black) or the Mayor who appointed him (who is a Dem)? Is it possible that if residents of a city want to change the way things are they quit voting for the same people?

No, the definition of insanity.
