Another former Saban assistant who can’t coach.

Kirby is programmed to lose to Saban. All former Saban assistants must get a chip implant or some major dirt, and when it is turned on, they throw the game.
Taking this as a metaphor, it's why I personally don't like the Pruitt hire. Saban never would have allowed it if it weren't to his advantage.. Paranoid you say? Check the results.

If you're going for it on 4th and 11, call a real play with a high percentage of working. It was a bad play call.
True freshman qb that hasn't thrown a pass all year comes in for a fake punt run on 4th and 11. That's a bad play call.

Sticking with it even after Alabama kept their defense on the field because they knew the fake punt was coming? That's all time stupidity. Fake punts work on the element of surprise. There was none.

Fields has thrown in a few games before. Don’t mind the call.

Your second paragraph is the main thing everyone should be questioning for sure. That was the bigger issue.

True freshman quarterbacks play on punt teams?

That's not suspicious at all.

You obviously don’t understand football if you can’t comprehend why the call was made.

You obviously missed Smart's presser where he explained why he called it (basically they worked on it all season and he wanted to take advantage of it this week) and did not explain why he didn't call it off when he should have. He said Bama initially did not cover the guy who was going to get the pass, then they did cover him, bjut his bunch did not get the snap off in time. So why didn't he call time out if Bama covered the guy blowing the play???? He sounded double dumb the whole way.

I was just telling somebody all the things working against that fake:
1) it's 4th and 11.
2) Fields being in the game gives it away.
3) Fields is a freshman and isn't going to audible out of the fake or call timeout.
4) Alabama was in Punt Safe.

Other than this, it was a perfect plan

More importantly, he is lying and throwing everyone else under the bus but himself. Show me on film that mythical "unconvered guy that got covered".

Mack Wilson points out the eligible receiver to Dylan Moses just before the snap, and Moses slides over just a bit. I don't think it would have worked either way, because that side of the line crashed in on Fields.

Kirby has looked a lot like the second coming of nick saban the last couple of years. Last night he look (to the entire sports world) a lot more like the second coming of butch jones than nick saban. That'll be a decision that could reverberate for years to come. It's being called one of the dumbest decisions in football history. One article was comparing it to the Seahawks throwing the ball from the one yard line.

Kirby is more the second coming of Richt. 32-8 in his first 3yrs with 1 SEC championship. Finished Unranked, then 2nd with this one probably 6th.
Mark Richt was 32-8 as well at this point with a SEC Championship finishing 22nd, 3rd, and 7th.

More importantly, choking in big games much like Richt.

He is a liar. He basically ran an offensive play on 4th down with punt team personnel. Bama was playing defense the whole way, not punt block or punt return.

Why do people keep saying he hasn't attempted a pass all year.

He was 27-38 for 328 4tds and 0 ints this year

Agree. Twice now they've had the lead against bama only to take the foot off the gas and go conservative too soon. It's such a blessing for TN fans that uga isn't in the playoffs again and that everyone is now questioning Kirby as a decision maker.

I will take his level of choking all day every day. Same as Richts. It’s amazing how “deserving” fans think they are. Not many coaches have won an sec title since Saban showed up.

Kirby Smart with the fake punt call. Incredible.

I was watching one of the ESPN 30 shows about Miami and Notre Dame a while back. Lou Holtz, love him or hate him, said that if a team had to resort to trickery, he knew he had the game. So, when Jimmy J tried a trick on him, hew knew he had that game because Miami at that point admitted they could beat him straight up. When KS went for the fake punt, he tipped his hat to Saban at that point.

Ditto. If losing the big games against Bama is what Richt was measured by, they grossly misinterpreted the need to replace him.
