Another start to the school year, another shooting; nothing will change

Yep. A weapon of war and mass destruction.

Personally, I'm glad they are not plentiful and in the hands of complete idiots. But maybe that's just me.

Is an F-16 a weapon of war? Should civilians be allowed to own one?

Not only would the founding fathers have loved me, I more than likely would have been invited to join.

So we all agree that a line must be drawn and that having a citizenry armed equal to the government (standing army) is insanity. Which obviously makes the debate nothing more than where to draw that necessary line.

Which is horse💩. You would have been loyal to the crown and too much of a puss to join the revolution.

In the strictest sense, a civilian pilot can't buy a fighter jet, because it's against the law to own one still capable of combat operations. However, you can buy a jet that used to be a fighter and is now enjoying its retirement.

You really need to read up on and understand what that means.

It's like you were going out of your way to prove my point

Fighters, also known as warbirds in the aviation community, sometimes go up for sale when a model becomes outdated and there are surplus aircraft remaining.

Warbirds are always demilitarized before they can be sold to a civilian pilot or collector. Any weapons systems or sensitive instruments will be removed before it arrives in your hangar.

I'm thinking that maybe it's you who needs to read up.

But my fundamental premise stands.....Civilians do not have access to the same weapons as the military....nor should they.

So your fine with civilian ownership of a weapon of war as long it's "demilitarized"?

?????
Do you believe the founders would want the average citizen to have easy access to nukes, grenades, and anti-aircraft weapons?
If so - we completely disagree.
If not - we are not that far apart.
Nukes are offensive weapons (defensive deterrent)
If there’s a risk that our own government will bomb us, then yes the founding fathers would approve of AA
Grenades, defensive weapon so approve
