1a. QB will be solid and consistent...no changes made all season. I think either Dobbs or Worley is about to come into fall camp and close down the competition and QB will not be our pain point this season. I'll bet on Dobbs (Gut) but I wont bet against Worley.

1b. dont know how bold but after TN beats FL Muschamp is fired...which will make any possible struggles this season worth it in my book.

2. GA

3. OFF I think Hurd stat wise but I'll go with Medley. He will get the praise/blame for a lot of Wins or Loses by having a lot of chances in a lot of close games, he must be clutch - and I think he will be. DEF Johnson

This explains your likes to posts ratio.

This forum hates the truth when we suck. They spend the off season pumping up the team to such a level that they completely forget who is actually out there playing.

Our D was flat awful last two years. Our O was awful last year after injuries. We are playing most of the same players as last year in key positions (QB, WR, DB) and have a completely new OL and DL. And no depth when injuries hit again. Great class of recruits last year MAY pan out starting next year but this year will be the same old same old.

1. What is your bold prediction for the 2014 Vols?
2. What will be the biggest upset this year?
3. Biggest offensive and defensive impact freshmen?.

1. Best (most consistent) qb play in SEC
east
2. We beat Florida (roper struggled against
cincy in bowl 2 years ago)
3. Off-Malone
Def-Bates

*sidenote-UT has a stout pass rush again, which will be key to a couple of big upset victories including Florida.

Eh.. UT beating UF would not be an upset in my book based on the "team" (If you want to call it that) they had at the end of the year. Plus, UT had a better record.

3. Biggest offensive and defensive impact freshmen?

1. Tennessee beats Florida and goes 4-4 in the SEC and finishes with a 7-5 record. We get the BBVA Compass Bowl and ruthlessly obliterate whatever AAC/Big East opponent we draw. Florida finishes 7-5 and Muschamp is fired after a 4-0 start. 2014 Tennessee has a good offense but a poor defense. Will Muschamp accepts the job to take the DC position.

2. 4-0 Florida (they beat Alabama for double-bonus points here) loses to 2-2 Tennessee (losses to UGA/Oklahoma).

3. Offense: Malone Defense: McKenzie. Yes, he's that good. Okay seriously the Defensive impact guy will probably be TKJr. I think Randolph slides over to SS and TKJr takes FS. That gives him a huge amount of playing time. Moseley also has a good shot here as it was obvious the coaches want him and Sutton at CB and Coleman at Nickel.

3. Biggest offensive and defensive impact.

1. 5-7 with wins over Ark State, Florida, Chatt, Mizzou, and Kentucky. After which, a petition is started in support of firing Butch Jones. At the time of the petition, he will have commitments from a top 3 recruiting class, but the other SEC schools will use it to neg recruit against us in January and the final class ranking will be 14th. Fans will then use this ranking to justify why CBJ is not a good enough recruiter to be a HC in the SEC on radio call in shows all next spring.

2. Peterman's revenge: a 21-20 victory over unbeaten Florida with UT entering the game 1-3. Peterman tosses two TDs and runs for another after getting the start at home, following injuries to both Worley and Dobbs in Norman (when UT figures out that freshmen, though great recruits, are not ready to start in big time college football, as both QBs are injured by crazed Oklahoma blitzes).

3. Josh Malone grabs 50 catches and 13 TD, and Elliot Berry has 5 picks, two for scores.

Answer this one...

Who's worse?

The sunshine pumpers or the ultra-negative douchebags that think they're some sort of football expert.

I'll hang up and listen.

That's turrible. :furious3:

My thoughts are it's the douchebag who poses the above question.

Interesting idea of how the season would play out. Given your scenario, we would lose to:

Utah State
Oklahoma
Georgia
Ole Miss
Alabama
South Carolina
Vanderbilt

I could be wrong, but I think Utah State has been a trendy upset pick, but I think it has been a little overblown. JMO.

I'm curious why you pick VU to beat us. I understand their talent took a big hit with Franklin gone. My opinion is no more valid than yours, but I am interested in why you see losses to those two teams in particular.

I'll hang up and listen.

For the record, I don't think picking an upset game and making a bold prediction qualifies as "sunshine pumping."

1. What is your bold prediction for the 2014 Vols?
2. What will be the biggest upset this year?
3. Biggest offensive and defensive impact.

1. We have 4 blowout losses to OU, UA, UGA, and USCe. Winning on the road is hard (UA anywhere) in the SEC and we are directly competing with these teams for recruits. They will keep their foot on the gas the entire game in hopes of swaying recruits. It'll be ugly but this is the last year this many blowouts happen.

2.UF, it won't be pretty but we go up early and hold on. FL enters the game with question marks after being embarrassed in Tuscaloosa.

3. Off: Wolfe or Helm, need a TE and one of these guys will step up
Def: Jakob Johnson, love his football instincts and teams will focus more on Maggitt

1. What is your bold prediction for the 2014 Vols?
Top 5 in scoring O.
2. What will be the biggest upset this year?
USCe.
3. Biggest offensive and defensive impact freshmen?
Hurd or Malone, Moseley or Bates.

2. I believe we will go to Norman and upset the Sooners. Even if we are 2-0, our wins would be against small teams, and we would easily be overlooked by OU. We have nothing to lose in this game, and despite their stellar game against Alabama, they are an up-and-down team with QB issues and the loss of 8 starters.
Too early. I'd love to see it. I just think UT will still be sorting some things out at that point on D.

3.
Bates DEF. I see him almost as a Nick Reveiz. A cerebral player that puts himself in good positions to make big plays (though a better athlete).
Bates is hopefully that smart but there's no comparisons to be made after that. Bates is a true NFL LB body.

No. People in general dislike excessively negative people who accuse them of hating the "truth"... when they aren't promoting the "truth".

For instance, you specifically mentioned the QB, DB, and WR positions as being the "same". But that is obviously not true. The secondary won't be the same. WR sure won't. QB's will be the same people but more development. All will have greater understanding of Jones' system and schemes.

IF players never improved from one season to the next with development and growth... then you'd almost have a point.

Sad but true, I know the excitment of a new season brings alot of false hope to people. But the facts of where this program still is are sobering

The program is in the 2nd year of a new coach. He's now had time to develop and recruit some players and install his system. Expecting him to beat every team on his schedule with less talent than he has... is DEFINITELY not setting the bar too high. Expecting him to beat a mid-major that is replacing as many or more starters than he is is DEFINITELY not setting the bar too high.

"Where the program is" is poised to enter a season with a very difficult schedule overall but one in which the Vols still have more talent than 6 opponents and close enough to 3 or 4 more that a win would not be an incredible upset. Now... coaches have to develop and coach the players.
