Anxiety Dreams

I have the classic "can't find the classroom" or "show up unprepared for the test/turn in date" dreams.

I also had a one time deal that nobody can explain where I used my 7 year old to run interference while I shoplifted Chex Mix.

I used to have the unprepared dream a lot

Last night I dreamed that I was at church and there was a huge charter bus outside. It was sweet, black fading up to a silver and had smokey and some ut players on it. Off white leather seats inside and tyndall was throwing a foam cooler out the door of it. That was odd

Divine sign that the big orange bus is making room for you to be a fan!

I've been asleep, but like awake in my head. I can tell my wife what's been going on, but just can't wake up physically. Its hard to explain, but that freaks me out. Maybe I'm just crazy!

Physcially awake? I've read about where people wake up, but the mechanism that keeps them from moving doesn't turn off. So they lay there but are essentially paralyzed

I have the classroom one; it switches between college and high school a lot. The funny part is almost every time I have it, I keep trying to tell the teacher/professor that I graduated years ago and I have a job. Then I ask what time it is and realize I'm late to work.

Another one I have is where I'm with a group or another person and I'm either in a store, mall, or a tourist house like The Biltmore. Slowly people in the group start to break away and pretty soon I find myself alone, and the place is getting dark and closing. But I can't find the door out and then slowly the other shoppers/tourists start disappearing and soon the employees start disappearing.

And I don't know if this is "anxiety" or not but I have somewhat frequent dreams that are pretty lucid where I have long conversations with people I've known that have died. Relatives, friends from high school including a few that died in high school, always someone I actually knew in real life. Plus I dream about my childhood dogs. Those are probably easy enough to interpret, but what's always a bit strange is we both know they are dead. But I never ask about an afterlife or dying. And my dogs I play with them and almost talk to them like they are people. Most of the dream is fine but always near the end it's like it really dawns on me they are dead and I start to get very emotional. Usually it's kind of like "Wait I can't talk to you anymore". When that part hits, they always stop talking and the dogs will walk away around a corner and when I walk over, they are gone. I always wake up with my eyes streaming tears but luckily I recognize pretty quickly it was a dream so I don't freak my wife out.

Yea, its freaky. I've honestly thought about going to a Dr before. I haven't done it in a while, but it freaks me out when I do.

Are you talking about sleep paralysis? Sounds like what I have. I've been fully mentally away but I can't move and usually I have trouble breathing. I can't talk but to me I'm speaking normally but my wife says I'm either asleep or she'll hear me give a low mumble.

I experienced the first time about 10-11 years ago and before I knew what it was, it scared me to death. People used to believe it was a demonic and I can see why, because when it happens my senses are really messed up and it feels like someone is in the room and messing with you. I even heard strange voices; well what I thought were strange voices.

After I figured out what they were, now they don't bother me. I even had an episode earlier this week and was able to wake myself up.

Sleep paralysis. It happened to me a number of times when I was going through a tough season. I would become conscious and want to scream out for my roommate, but I was unable to speak or move. Thankfully, it passed as I moved on with my life.

I have very strange lucid dreams and have had them my entire life

I often realize I'm dreaming but don't wake up and just carry on in the dream with full control

one where I'm being stalked by someone trying to kill me. It gets so intense that I'm jolted - almost awake - but realize it is just a dream. Then, knowing it's just a dream, I feel emboldened and start carrying on like man on fire. It's actually pretty fun until the next morning I feel exhausted

Yeah. Same reason you can't scream or yell when you're dreaming, except you're not dreaming... You're actually awake and can't scream.

Its bad enough in a dream but It's got to be pretty terrifying when you're actually awake

The "test dream" has been postulated to signify that there is an important area of your life or issue that you are neglecting. That creates stress, and your brain recreates a situation that you can relate to that would result in a similar conflict. IIRC, it is more common in people who are highly educated.

Yes! I've never known what it was, but that's it exactly. I have felt as though I was yelling to my wife for help, but she'd swear I didn't say a word.

I've finally awakened and thought I should go to the er.

So, when you get things dealt with it eases? I haven't had it in a year, but the fear of it brothers me.

It probably will. Ask yourself: is there an area of your life that could use some attention? Anything you know you need to change but keep putting off?

My wife has bad health issues (very aggressive lupus), and thinking about it now this never happened before that. Since she's been sick I've felt helpless, and guilty even that its her and not me. It was the worse during her chemo. I honestly wonder if that didn't trigger it.

Another from the "Only me" dream file. I'll occasionally dream I'm at the stadium in the restroom at a urinal. Then, since I'm aware that I'm dreaming, the thought hits me "this isn't right. Nobody dreams about taking a piss. Wake up immediately?!"

I work nights and usually come home and eat a bowl of cereal in bed before I go to sleep. A few weeks ago I fell asleep and was dreaming I was in bed watching TV, but had to pee. I remember thinking, I don't want to get up so I'll just go here. In my dream I was peeing in bed and it was so cold. In reality I fell asleep and the bowl of cereal leaned over and the milk was pouring down my crotch.

I've also had very lucid dreams of waking up and getting ready, or waking up and going jogging or working out. Then I wake up for real, and usually not happy.

people often post about how they have dreams about ut football and how we beat Alabama or whatever. I wish I had those dreams. Normally I'm fleeing from a serial killer or escaping a prison work camp in Cambodia

I have had dreams of games the night before a game, both football and basketball. Some I'm at the stadium and can't get to my seat; others I can't get to a TV to watch.

The funniest ones I've had there's been a UT football game and UT basketball game going on at the same time but they would play like a half then the other game would play a half. Plus the opponents made no sense; like one of them we played Florida in football and Kentucky in basketball at the same time.
