Any chance McBee's scholly gets pulled?

umm pretty sure Zo isnt looking to pull scholies his first year in. Pretty sure he would honor those already in place. Not that I think Mcbee deserves one because I don't personally but I doubt it will get pulled.

Seems to be fairly common practice for first year coaches to pull scholarships in favor for one of "his guys". There is also plenty of evidence that McBee is not DI material.

McBee is still riding the "3 against Kansas" train all the way into scholarship station. I'm sure he'll go off in the Rocky Top summer league and ppl will think he's deserving. I'd love to see Coach Zo bring in a couple of his own guys.

I wonder why people decided to single out McBee? There are several other players on scholly that produced less. Are you sure that some of you posters aren't regular Vol Calls callers?

I don't see any current scholarship players not getting their scholarship renewed- we are losing a lot of bodies this year, and with the possibility of Ware/Jones not coming to Knoxville, by the time CCM can get 'his' recruits on campus these guys will either be seniors or graduated. The scholarship player situation isn't that different from the problem CDD inherited with the football team.

Because he is a "shooter" that shoots 33% and a complete liability anywhere else on the court. You know the guy I'm talking about right?

You saw what he did to a former walk-on at Missouri State, right? Made him the Missouri Valley Conference Player of the Year. McBee will be SEC POY next year! Book it!

PR night if McBee's scholly is pulled. He is still a local kid "done good" for some fans. I for one hope as a upper classmen he dials it in and hits 3's like in practice. I don't think any player will lose scholly with all the players graduating & possible leaving early...

McBee, may be ok in this system. We don't have a lot of shooters better than him from outside the arc. If nothing else, he is another body and can help on the scout team. We will probably be low on numbers anyway the first year.

Classless to pull the kids scholly. now Cuonzo could inform the kid he will never play for him and put the decision if Mcbee would want to transfer to a lower tier program or he will watch Tennessee from the bench.

I admit that I cringed every time I saw McBee on the floor this year. Honestly though, I really think he'll do alot better in Martin's motion offense. He'll get alot more open looks, and his 3pt % should go up. I really hope so, at least, because we don't exactly have a roster full of shooters. I'm definitely worried about us on defense next year though. When I heard Cuonzo say that we will be EXCLUSIVELY running man defense, I thought "oh crap"....

Actually 33% from the 3 point range (which nearly all of his shots) isn't bad...equal to 50% from the 2 point area of the court. I'm not sure why someone who plays nearly every game isn't deserving of a scholarship. Plus, next year we are losing Fields, Williams, Bone, Goins, and possibly Harris or Hopson.

McBee is gone. If you haven't heard we hired a black coach (there is a thread dedicated to it) so its gotta work in reverse, no?

Why would he pull his scholarship? I heard he really hits a lot of threes in practice. Honestly though, I don't see CCM pulling any schollys. As one poster said that would be yet ANOTHER PR nightmare. I think Cuonzo is smarter than that. He seems to be hard-nosed enough to cause someone to want to leave if he doesn't want them there.

Sure...pick on the white guy...racist! LOL
On a serious note, I dont think he loses scholly. McBee did see playing time over many others. He just needs to work harder to contribute.

Martin went from making no 3 pointers in his Freshman and Sophomore years to shooting 45% in his Junior and Senior years. No reason to think that McBee can't do the same, especially under the tutelage of a coach that did the same thing in his collegiate career.

Mcbee was one of the only players who did not quit in the Michigan blowout. I really hope he doesnt lose his scholly. I think he may do alright in a new system, especially under a guy who was a big 3-point shooter himself.
