Any old timers….

My confidence in beating Florida, has more to do with us than it does with them. I think we've turned a corner with Heupel. I do remember blowing late leads to the Gators in 2000, 2014 and 2015 ... and playing too tight in 1993, 1999 and 2005 ... the 2017 Hail Mary and the 1995 2nd half collapse. I just think Heupel's teams will be different. I guess we'll see soon enough. This game should not be close.

These are the exact responses that worry me even more.

I’m the downer. Florida will beat us by >7 in the swamp.

Beating Florida at the Swamp.... how many times have we been down this road? I'll believe when the clock reads quad zeros.
I felt the same way about ever beating Alabama, while Nick Saban was their head coach ... until last October. That mentality doesn't allow for the possibility that Heupel's teams will be different.

No way we lose to this team. I’m an old timer. Florida got a lot of breaks to beat us over the years. History shows we had 3 “pretend” coaches over those years. I am certain Heupel is salivating like Pavlov’s dog. Floridas weakness is their O line. Utah beat them with a 3rd string QB. Florida’s play calling mostly sucked. clock management sucked . They looked like they were lost.

To hell with jinx’s and past history. We got this one. Vols by 21

Wishing folks would calm down about UF??

They will still be ready for UT.
I'm kind of an old timer. They've been in UT's head for a long time. This is an amazing opportunity to reverse that. They just lost to a significantly less talented team... playing their 3rd string QB, a walk on. That team was also missing or lost 7 or 8 of their best players.

They're talented so there's no way Heupel and the team can overlook them. But this isn't a Gator team that "expects" to win. And Napier hasn't shown anything so far that should inspire that kind of confidence or create that kind of culture.

Kind of odd that you choose this occasion to make a football post.

I guess I’m an old timer. Im struggling to remember a Florduh team that looked as bad as they did last night. I hope they don’t figure it out before the 16th.

There is no curse. We've just typically been less talented than them and/or poorly coached. It appears that now we have at least matched them on talent AND we are very well coached. They looked undisciplined and lacking in key areas against a team that hasn't recruited anywhere near an SEC level. Not saying Utah isn't a good team but they don't have SEC-level talent.

We play the gators on my birthday again this year. We’ve played them four times on my birthday and lost them all. Last night made me pretty confident that this streak will end.

neither team looked very good at all. Doubt either would make a league championship game. BUT

be very careful taking much away from first games. that is an old man's recommendation. its amazing how teams change after a game one. More true than ever now with portal. Tennessee might start 7 transfers tomorrow. New guys make mistakes in first games.
