Any Spartacus watchers out there?

I hated to see it end. Took me watching it in 3 separate parts over a day and a half before I finally had put it off long enough.

History says that Crassus survived and that Julius Caesar, eventually became emperor of Rome.

Caesar was never technically the emperor of Rome. He was named dictator for life shortly before being killed by the other Senators. Octavian (Augustus), Caesar's adopted grand-son was Rome's first emperor.

As for Gannicus's new girl, I'm still more in love with Saxa then the new one. I don't understand his severe story arc either. One day, he's a drinking man slaying vagina all the time and banging Saxa pretty much every night. Then, he spends one night with this new slave girl and he's a changed man. He's off the bottle and there's not even a word with Saxa about breaking it off. Just a strange turn of events....Oh well....Maybe I'm just jealous he gets to bang all the hot chick. :)

As for the ending....I think the best word to use is bittersweet. I like how they did it and all and LOVE how they used Andy Whitfield to do the "I AM SPARTACUS" at the end of the credits too, that was awesome. I am kind of hoping that somehow they are able to take the story and move it to Caesar, Crassus and Pompey and the forming of the first triumvirate. That would just be amazing......

Thanks I stand corrected on the emperor statement.

I did read that a spinoff centering on Julius Caesar was being discussed but nothing has been announced.

I enjoyed the Rome series and imagine they could do something like that. Of course it runs into the issue of being expensive like all the others have

Rkw, sorry for the correction. I'm really big into Ancient Rome, that's all. I've studied it like crazy and love that stuff.

As for the show Rome. It was a great series but was too expensive for HBO to keep going so they had to cut it off and the creators had it originally scheduled for 4 seasons and had to do the last season based on 3 seasons of stuff so it kind of jumped around on the timeline a bit. But, it was very well done. I recommend it, for sure. Very historically accurate too.

As for their being a spinoff with Caesar, that would be fantastic. I see it being. Little cheaper than the HBO series because they aren't going to be building the sets like HBO did. They will use green screens and make the sets cgi. Man, I hope the can figure something out.

No worries. I'm interested in Ancient Rome but haven't studied it in depth. I will have to check out Rome.

I loved Spartacus Blood and Sand and have really enjoyed the other 3 seasons.
One of my favorite movies is Gladiator.

Gladiator was a GREAT movie, one of my fans as well. Check out Rome if you get a chance, you won't be disappointed.

Always wanted to watch that show. How would you compare it to Game of Thrones?

I haven't ever watched game of thrones, but Rome is very real, imo. Historical accuracy and a great attention to detail. If you liked gladiator it is on a similar theme. I enjoyed it but it is different from Spartacus. The special effects and green screen stuff is not nearly as prevalent in Rome. Not all blood shed and people getting their heads chopped off. But great fights still. Good show and I highly recommend it. If it hadn't cost so much I would have liked them to have spread it out longer. Sorry for butting in. I would still like to see how others feel on the subject.

I love Game of Thrones as well, but I haven't read any of the books at all so I don't really know the story or anything. As for Rome, seriously you won't be disappointed at all. The first season was freaking great and the 2nd season, as I said before, was really like 3 seasons jumbled into one so they could finish the story. It was still very well done but I wish they would've been able to take it out the 4 seasons like they originally planned. It's a little different from Spartacus in that it doesn't have that "300" feel to it with the blood spatter and gruesome fight scenes or anything but the sets they built are really amazing. Which is the main reason it got cancelled, the cost was too much for HBO to bear any longer. There's still plenty of gratuitous sex scenes in it and Cleopatra isn't quite the amazingly beautiful girl she's portrayed as in older movies but that's a little more historically accurate too, based on her picture on old coins they've found.....The guy who plays Caesar (Cirian Hinds) does a great job with it too.

Watch Game of Thrones

I've just finished re-watching Gods of the Arena. How much time passed between the end of Gods when Gannicus won his freedom and the arrival of Spartacus in Blood and Sand?

I really can't decide. Must have been a decent amount of time since Crixus had to have time two kill those 2 guys in the arena and make a name for himself. I don't think it's ever really clear.

I didn't know if it ever said or if I missed it. It had to have been several months at least. As you say Crixus had made himself a name.

Watching episode 1 of Blood and Sand. Ashur is stil recovering from his broken leg from the final episode of Gods.

Oh yeah that's a good point too. So maybe it wasnt very long then. Who knows. I want to say at some point in Vengeance it was referenced but I can't remember.

I'm re-watching them all in order Gods to Blood and Sand then Vengeance. Trying to pick up things I missed.

I would say that it's about a year at least. Crixus was the man and Onamayus was now a known Doctore to the other guys in the house. Not to mention the majority of the other gladiators were now new, so that had to take some time with all the other guys dying off through various games. It definitely doesn't say a time though in the show.

Crixus was talking to Naevea and he said it had been three months since he had killed the two described as sons of a jackal. I would guess 6 months to a year had passed. Thanks for the responses.
