Any VN trolls living in AZ?

Moved out here about a month ago. I like it so far. Not too expensive for a big city and more exciting than Knoxville. This law would be damned hard to enforce.

It's probably one of those things that would get used after the fact. Ie If someone accuses another of bullying or harrassment then the cops can investigate and then have something to pin on someone.

That's what I'm thinking too. As soon as they overreach, it'll go to the supreme court, and likely be struck down.

Both my wife and I are southerners, so we are a bit skeptical about living in a desert like that. Good to hear you like it. I have one friend from Oak Ridge, TN who lives there now, and she loves it. I've been there before a few times, but that's not the same as living there. So far I hear nothing but good things.

Also I hear real estate is cheap. :)

North Central Phoenix. Indian School and Central along the light rail.

We didn't know much about the area when we got the place (G/f's been here since July) just that we wanted to be on the light rail.

After the lease is up we're going to be looking at Tempe and maybe Scottsdale.

light rail finally got finished huh? What a cluster that was. I think I quoted materials for it at least 4 times

I lived in Tempe for almost 7yrs. Fun place with ASU right by but still places to have a quiet house.

I will say this really doesn't surprise me for AZ (at least Maricopa). They really spent some police bucks on the wrong stuff. I liked the idea of tent city, chain gangs, etc but the rest rubbed me the wrong way

I can't imagine how bad the light rail screwed up Phoenix, wow. But it is awesome now. Better than a cab and great AC

I just like the restaurant and bar scenes in Seattle, SF and LA a whole lot more than Phoenix. The area around ASU is as good as any college in the country, just wasn't a fan of it outside of that.

I hear Scottsdale is wealthy area. Tempe suits me, from what I hear, but I'd like to stay away from the campus.

Downtown Phoenix is a literal ghost town at night, for sure. But Tempe and Scottsdale have a great atmosphere. It's a much newer city than those three so there isn't an established culture so far. The big things that Phoenix (vs those places) has going for it is that it's not in Cali (taxes, cost in general) and it's always sunny.

I have found some great restaurants however. Although I am used to the culinary scene of Knoxville, TN where I looked forward to Calhoun's.

Mesa and the southern part of Scottsdale are both fairly close to Tempe and seemed like decent enough areas. No idea what property values are like, though. I'd imagine still pretty cheap.

Good luck finding decent BBQ anywhere west of Texas.

It's wealthy, but that's not a drawback. Keep in mind wealthy in Phoenix doesn't mean expensive. The housing market got so depressed that pretty much everything's affordable these days.

I mean, $4 beers at D-Backs games? It don't get much better than that.

Mesa is Provo lite. So many Mormons there. Not a bad thing, I'm just ready for a new scene.

For real. Surprisingly SLC has one of the best BBQ joints there is. Hoping for a surprise like that in Phoenix.

I can deal with that. Maybe I'll be there in time to see the Braves visit.

There's this place called Chino Bandito on 19th Ave and Thunderbird thats a Chinese-Mexican fusion and it's one of my favorite restaurants ever.

April 27-29 I do believe.

Probably not happening then. My boss is working on a raise and promotion to get me out there sooner, but we'll see. Otherwise we have to plan ahead. My wife will be cutting hair, and it will take her a while to build up clientelle and replace her income.

You need a buzz? LOL

I never found it. There were places that claimed to be good but they really weren't anything special. Can get some mean burritos though. Great place called Dos Amigos (I think) on Buckeye near Central (probably 1st or 2nd St)

FTR, I love being proven wrong as it would give me something to do next time I visit Phoenix. Taking suggestions for what people think is the best restaurant in Phoenix.
