Probably very true and that is why LK will live another day in the saddle. Haden appears to be a bit stubborn, in that he sees the same thing everyone else sees, incompetent coaching and inconsistency. But Haden might be tying his hands a bit on the support issue should LK rebound with good recruits and win 10 or 11 games next year. Then he would have to decide if he "should" cut LK loose after that rebound.

The top half of the SEC upgraded coaching staffs during the last few years of Fulmer's tenure, and he struggled on the field and in recruiting. Now that the bottom half have upgraded, UT would be right about where we are now if Fulmer would of stuck around.

Although we rode Fulmer two years too long, the Kiffin hire debacle screwed UT more than any other event.

Kiffin was a short term debacle, a blip in the road, while Dooley was lethal, lots of damage in three short years. Now the cleanup hopefully begins.

Dooley gave his all for the program. He tried his best. And he left it in much better shape than he found it. In the end, he blew it. But to me,

Dooley > Kiffin.

p.s. If you think Dooley would have gone worse than 7-7 with USC's talent and schedule this year, you've lost it. There's no doubt, in my view. Hell, he went 5-7 with our crappy team and horrendous schedule. It's safe to say he would have gone at least 7-7 at USC this year. So...

In all cases, Dooley > Kiffin.

Dooley is infinitely worse than Kiffin. He did not leave us better than he found it. He inherited Kiffin's top ten class and is leaving Butch a class near the bottom of the conference. I dislike Kiffin but will not blame him for Dooley's debacle of a coaching tenure.

I've never been much of a Lane Kiffin fan (nor most of his recruits)...so I enjoyed seeing him get beat by a southern team....with a very so-so record.

I remember him running M Hardesty 4 times from the 2 against UCLA and we didn't score. The defensive tackles who are in the NFL were their strength...and he ran right at them 4 times.

At that point, I began to think that "maybe this guy is over-rated". I think I was right.....and I think good ole' Al Davis was right about Kiffin too.
