I think he was probably the best hire of the bunch (outside of Monte). Bryce has been saying that Gran was one of the main reasons he loved UT, and we all know he got Nu'keese almost singlehandedly. It seems like if recruits aren't talking about the great Monte Kiffin, they're talking about Gran. With all the nay sayers talking about Brown being a bust, I think it's very unlikely. IMO the biggest busts come from not only a disturbed player, but an excellent recruiter that can't coach. Not only is Gran an excellent recruiter, he also an excellent coach, and those are hard to find. Anybody else agree with me?

i think he's a great coach but next years class will prove lance and O's value as recruiters...they are head and shoulders above everyone else in that regard

Gran was the one I was the most excited about. I looked at the guys he has coached in the past and was blown away. I was more excited when we got him than I was about Orgeron or even Monte.

Anyone talking about Brown being a bust are saying so because they want it to happen, not because they think it's going to happen.

I agree.
Just look at his track record. Wouldnt you want to be taught by the same man that taught the likes of Carnell Williams and Ronnie Brown? along with others.

I agree but Gran probably had the biggest immediate impact recruiter wise of any of the coaches. Okay maybe outside of Monte :) .

If Brown stops trying then I could see him being a bust, but hes to good to just stop trying and with sights set on the NFL why would he.

plus his cockyness in the press conference where he said he is coming here to start and win the heisman as a freshman tells me that he wants to outwork everyone else...plus gran is well known for making his rb's work...i mean WORK, so if anyone can get the best out of him it's gotta be fast eddie

Since Brown isn't redshirting, he'll have to play until he's a Junior, so if Gran works him for the next 3 years the way he did Cadillac/Ronnie, I'd say there's a good chance he'll be huge. Which will only expand Gran's resume and his recruiting pull, especially with stud running backs.

Not happening. Phil isn't our head coach anymore, remember?

Does Brown go to HS with B. Bell or is he just out of Kansas? That would be huge if he could help us out with him in some way when he gets on campus.

Gran has completely blown me away. It sure seemed like we slow played him, but he has produced big time.

Thanks for the response. I always knew florida was deep with talent but the best in a long time is saying something.

Not what I said.....I didn't say he wouldn't play until he was a junior, I was saying since he's not redshirting he would have to play through his junior season, so that's three seasons for Gran (pending him remaining on staff) to work his magic on him, as opposed to two seasons if he were to redshirt (i.e. Michael Crabtree this year redshirting and coming out as a redshirt sophomore)

If Coach Gran and Coach O came pounding on your door could you tell them NO with a straight face?

My bad, I misread it. Hopefully he'll play early, often, and through his senior year. :)
