Anyone Else Think Gran's Our Best Recruiter?

at the same time Gran hasn't had the product like TN has to sell either so he could eventually become our best recruiter. Auburn is a very good school with some nice items to sell to a recruit but not on the same level as TN, USC, and Bama. This is why i think Gran(auburn), O(Ole Miss), and Frank Wilson(Ole Miss/Southern Miss) will be almost unstoppable on the recruiting scene. You will start hearing Frank more after players see our WRs produce. He is getting killed in the experience talk but kids love him and are waiting to see what he does as a WR coach.

I think Wilson is very underrated. He is going to coach them boys up and they are going to produce. QB play will obviously be a big factor in how soon though.

Good point. What is really great is that you can say this for every coach we have. I really think the greatness of this staff has flown under the radar. Everyone in the media is concerned with the money, but wait until they produce.

I give major props to Kiffin.

i think he's a great coach but next years class will prove lance and O's value as recruiters...they are head and shoulders above everyone else in that regard

We'll see. I think the way Gran is getting these big-time prospects he is right on par with them. Yes true they hold an edge on him since they've done it more years but he's good real good.

Gran has been fantastic. Nukeese, Oku, Brown. It seems like CLK was looking for another coach at that postion for a long time and Kept Gran on the sidelines for over a month. Who else would he have recruited in if he had had that month? No doubt Gran was not CLK's first choice, but based on recruiting he should have been all along.

Orgeron is the best recruiter on this staff. Monte is his carrot. The rest are just a huge pile of gravy on the biscuits. Gran has already made his salary for the next three years.

No argument here, just saying that CLK was looking for Jeremy Stephens (now at USC - OC) to join him when the best college guy was right under his nose waiting for him. The month Gran lost may have put us in the top five and that much farther along in the program. I think in trying to get the 'best guy' CLK may have been almost too choosy in this case.

Did Gran sign a 3 year deal with UT? I read somewhere else on these forums that he was holding out or trying to have a shorter contract than the others... is that true? This was just from another post I read.

this is like a guy who got a buttload of money to go buy a luxury car. he's thinking...do i get a Jag, a Beamer, a Benz, or a Lexus?.......or a HUMMAH?! (please someone give me props for that one if you know who im talking about).

fact of the matter is, lane kiffin is a genius. people talk about his "ego" but it is clear that he went out there and got guys who he knows are better than him at what they do. if this doesn't prove that lane kiffin is a team oriented guy who leaves his ego at home, then i don't know what will.

i don't know about the other staff members (simply because i havent heard anything) but from gran's interview on the sports animal a couple of weeks ago, it is apparent that he is a very spiritual man. this allows him to be able to connect to many recruits whose families may be more "religious" than the average joe. eric berry said this about monte: "he is a better man than he is a coach." after listening to gran, it seems that we can say the same about him. as great as it is to have a genuinely good guy teaching our players, it also goes a long way when parents see that their kids are being recruited by good guys who want the best for their kids
