Recruits should just remember what Coach O said at his presser about CLK.

Their comin their comin and they dont take no.

Thats my next Q
How long can we keep this cast when we turn it around?

the ones we lose will become head coaches but at that point the train will be rolling and we'll be capable of poaching suitable replacements and up and comers at will

My bad, I misread it. Hopefully he'll play early, often, and through his senior year. :)

Seriously doubt it unless he struggles, and needs the year to raise his stock. It's in our best interest that he is explosive all 3 years.

Without question CLKs not stupid, if he looses a position coach hes gonna take time to find a replacement hes not gonna just hire the first person to come into his office with a resume

I think it's funny people have suggested on other boards (and maybe on this one) that Gran is a fast-riser. He's been a position coach for 19 seasons with 13 coming as Tommy Tubberville's RB's coach.

That's not a knock on him--he seems to genuinely enjoy what he does. If he wanted to be a coordinator, then I have to think Tubberville would've given him a shot at some point during their time together. I would have to assume he's not interested in being an OC or just isn't suited for it.

I think he was a solid hire to this point, but it also makes you wonder what Chizik was thinking by letting him go. They were on the same staff together under Tubberville and I wonder if Chizik just didn't want to be second-guessed by Gran.

I hope Gran is Vol for a long time
Me too ! If you review the coaches salaries, Gran is vastly underpaid for what he has produced in the past (both in recruiting and coaching), not to mention what he has done in his short time at UT. If we plan on keeping him past the initial contract he signed we best be willing to up the ante.

It's like arguing whether you would like the blonde, brunette, or redhead supermodel. They are all great!

As do I, but I could see him getting a call from Tuberville whenever TT lands another gig and following him wherever he goes, if for no other reason than because he was with him at both Mississippi and later Auburn.

Gran was definitely the sleeper surprise hire of this coaching staff. Not quite as much fanfare as some of the other coaches, but definitely a great hire.

I think it is hard to single out a coach on this staff. If one can't get the job done there are others that step up. This is a staff of All-Stars as Jake Heaps said.

Gran is a steal! He will have our backs on top, look at the talent that we have. It is very impressive. They should be a very productive group, no doubt.

I'm telling you I think Gran is the best Offensive coach we have. Not taking anything away from the other guys, but His track record is stellar.

If you look at Grans history at Auburn...he landed a lot of talent in Florida. I expect him to do the same while at UT. IMO he might be prove to be Kiffins top hire recruiting wise.

I think this was one of the smarter, sure fire, hires that Lane made. I think his record, and his loyalty speak volumes for what kind of coach, and person, he is. Plus his ties to South Florida don't hurt too much either:)

He's a great recruiter and RB coach but i would have to say that all the coaches can recruit great. But Lance and Coach O would have to be the best we have JMO though. And of course monte for D players.

I wouldnt say Gran is the best on the team(O,CLK,Lance are above) but he is one of the best RB coaches/recruiters in the country and has a lot of firepower in his resume'. Kids coming out now grew up watch the Caddy and Ronnie/Lendale and Reggie show which means very good things for TN.
