Anyone excited about a Phillips and Estrella front line next season?

Boswell needs to make a leap in the offseason
He probably plays next year, but if our goals or what our goals are supposed to be, he'll be recruited over. Maybe I should say, transferred over. This should be a pretty exciting offseason again in the transfer portal and the recruiting front.

If he retires, who knows what our roster will be next year. Coach Barnes is the type of guy that has already discussed this with our AD, so hopefully wheels are turning already if he has decided this year is it for him.
It's a new day in college basketball. Look at the roster for Arkansas and Vanderbilt. An entire roster overturn is going to occur and can occur once the coach retires and a new regime comes in. All that can happen in one offseason. It's hard to get used to for old school fans who are used to players developing over three or four years and rosters being stable.

If Felix stays our front court ought to be solid.
Need to find a nice point that can score and a couple of guards. The 4 position might be the hardest to fill. We really need to hit on both the guys we bring in there.
I might get a lot of crap for this, but I think we'll be better when ZZ leaves. I think he dribbles a little too much and hurts the flow of the offense.
I absolutely love the kid to death, and he gives us other things that help us win. I am super happy to have him this year in the tournament, and the last 4.
I'm just talking about improving and being better next year on offense. Taking that next step and all that.
You just had to throw a backhand at ZZ huh? I can’t wait for him to graduate and go do great things, and log on here and read yall complaints about the “guard” position.. You entitled to your opinion, but many of you won’t appreciate what you have until it’s gone!

Oh go f yourself. I didn't write that as a "backhand" to ZZ. I have absolutely no agenda against the guy. All my posts on him all year have been positive as he//. I just happen to think what I said about him is true.
ZZ is an excellent point guard. I just think his style is not great for getting every single player involved on an offensive possession.
Moreover, it's why we often are stagnant on offense. i.e too much dribbling not enough ball movement.
Again, it's nothing personal against the guy.
He's an excellent kid, and exemplifies what heart is all about when playing the game.
It's simply a critique from an X's and O's standpoint.

I expect all 3 seniors to be back. Just takes one athlete like Pavia to sue like Pavia did.
Pavia had a solid case because he played at a JUCO and didn't have the same time in NCAA that others were afforded.
I'd be really surprised to see guys that had all the years under NCAA rules to get an extra year.
I mean what's the real argument with the current rules in place?
If they open the door to additional years in NCAA play then what's to stop 6, 7, 8 years etc?

They’re not likely to do this because it hurts the chances of the young guys coming into college getting to play, develop, and ultimately earn a portion of NIL themselves.

Cade continuing to develop and a healthy Estrella could be lethal. Barnes being an "old school" coach might like to see these two guys through, implementing a heavy inside/outside offense????!!
Those guys plus whoever Coach Barnes finds in the portal and we will be very competitive again next year. Coach Barnes has been one of the few old school coaches to adapt to the portal and NIL very well. His coaching speaks for itself.

If I were a betting man, I'd say if Boswell plays next season, it might not be at UT. I thought he was a reach when we signed him. My opinion hasn't changed.

Maybe he has privatley. It would be very much within Barnes' personality to not want to take recognition and the spotlight from this senior group and from Bob Kessling and Bertlekamp who are retiring.
I would imagine Barnes wants the team focusing on the tournament rather than his possible swan song.

Same with Kentucky and Mizzou.

I was trying to remember if it was UM. Yes, good example. UK has been flipping rosters for a decade plus w the one and duns. I think Barnes has fully embraced the TP and will rebuild significantly every year now. Boswell was the only HS recruit last yr. Who can blame coaches when there is no fences to keep star recruits in the herd now?
