Anyone heard a rumor that Urban Meyer is retiring again?

I marvel at the thought that a football program with as much history and tradition as UT can't beat a UF team led by such an emotionally fragile train wreck like Meyer.

I want UT to beat him at least once before he up and retires again. I kind of hope (and honestly think) this rumor isn't true...

Stranger things have happened, but I doubt this happens now.

I fully expect UT to beat UF before Meyer leaves Gainesville.

However if Meyer decides to leave Gainesville after this season, you can disregard the previous sentence.

Kiffin and O would never use such clever recruiting tactics. They are above board on these matters.

Saban will chase Meyer out of the conference. If not this year it will be the next.

His issues have nothing to do with the talent gulf that exists between the two recruiting grounds. His consistent ability to convince people that Tebow would be a linebacker is an altogether different story, however.

Saban is the best defensive coach in the country and is good enough recruiter to stalemate Meyer on that front. No contest between the two. Meyer benefitted greatly from a sorry UT program, Georgia faltering and his main competition coming from the dumbest staff in the conference. The conference was talented as a whole, but the offenses were horrendous over the past half decade or so and a couple of storied programs were lying in the dirt. He will find going forward much different.

Way to go out on a limb there, LW.

Saban is smarter than Meyer, and of course, the testosterone from an actual pair also works in Saban's favor.

Bama gets the best of UF this season, likely twice.

Next year we return the favor, likely twice.

After that, who knows...I'm sure it feels good to HOPE Saban chases Meyer from UF, if not for your own selfish reasons. The truth is probably closer to Meyer sticking around for a while.

I don't hope he chases anything from anywhere. I don't care who the opposing coaches are. I'm just telling it as I see it. Meyer isn't remotely the coach that Saban is. He keeps recruiting defenders well and keeps a d coordinator with a clue, he'll be competitive. He is not in Saban's arena as a football coach. He can match him with the word mincing and half truths on the recruiting trail.

It was Lex who said Saban would chase Meyer out of the conference, not you. Last year it was Meyer running scared of Kiffin.

You are entitled to your opinion about who the better coach is.

I wouldn't trade Meyer for any coach in the country, and Bama fans likely wouldn't trade Saban.

Many a fanbase would love to be in that position.

The more unbiased decider would be from fans such as us as to Saban or Meyer. I think Saban is the better coach by a significant margin.

Again, I wouldn't trade Meyer for any coach in the country, and that includes Saban.

Your opinion has no bearing on my prerefence. I couldn't be more pleased with the job Meyer's done in Gainesville.

I think we'll have too much defense for what they lose on offense following this season, and like UF this year.

I reserve the right to be completely wrong.

That is true. It's probably to early to predict that early anyway with recruiting now days.

It's that damn hair cut Timmy got...It's stressing Meyer out beyond belief...Sources have it that Meyer is doing everything he can to get Timmy Traded to Jacksonville where he'll be closer and he can keep an eye on him better...Sad to see lovers so far apart.

georgia's been better with richt then they were before and lets not forget they were preseason #1 when we won the title in 08

and i dont you think you remember very clearly how tough the conference(particularly our schedule) was in 06 by the way your talking either but you seem to think saban is leaps and abounds ahead of meyer even tho he won 2 titles in 5 yrs at UF so...

tell me about the awesome conference in 06.

Ark, LSU, Auburn, Tenn, UGA were all ranked on our schedule. the first 3 were pretty damn good teams

SC was a real tough game too had to win it on blocked kicks like bama last yr

yes because a team is ranked means they are a tough game. Cal in '06 was a great example. They just didn't show up to play.

we had 1 of the toughest schedules in the country is my point

and Ark, Aub, & LSU were top 15 teams that yr and im pretty sure SEC was considered the best conference

Arkansas got dominated by USC(36 points), lost to Wisconsin(didn't even win the Big XII and never beat a real great opponent that year), squeaked by a 6-7 Bama team.

Auburn lost to said Arkansas team.

Not really a power year for the conference, no matter what the records say.

2006 the SEC still had the two best teams in the country when it was all said and done in LSU & Florida.

I would of loved to of seen Arkansas play UCLA the same weekend USC played them, i'll go out on a limb and say the Hogs beat UCLA by 20
