Tinnitus is not well understood which is why there are so many causes and treatments suggested by qualified people. What causes and treats it for one may not be similar for others. It is commonly associated with hearing loss but not always. Treatments usually are "retraining" or "masking." Retraining involves mixing and learning to habituate. This involves mixing a sound source that is audible but not masking the ringing totally. Maskers wipe it out. One thing research clearly indicates is counseling is key. Anxiety is enhanced as the ringing is viewed as a negative thing and this grows and grows. Sorry for the long post but I hope this helps.

Makes sense, happens to me when I sit in a quiet room only it does so with both ears. The quiet seems to amplify it. In the meantime you could use a sound machine to break the silence if it's keeping you from sleeping. You can also use your laptop or other mobile device.

I've had ringing in my ears for many a year,I did some sound test in a booth and was told by my Doctor that there wasn't any help for it

at times it will drive me nuts.my friend has the same problem too,I'm pretty sure mine is from listening to Lynyrd Skynyrd in concert and other stuff with no ear protection in my younger years

it is getting about the time of year for this one too
