Anyone know anything about hot water heaters

Spyfish I'm looking at a Rannai tankless. I have 3.5 baths and two other sinks.
Which Rannai? How centrally located is your current hot water heater? How far is your longest run? These answers will impact your satisfaction. You are OK with the long return on your investment right? You will be in the house a long time?

I'll have to check on which model.

The heater is actually located on one side so it has a pretty long run to the bathrooms on the opposite side. I'd have to measure to know how far.

I don't plan on moving any time soon, but saving a few dollars a month in gas isn't my primary motivation. I just want the best solution.

OK $ question checked off.

The concern with tankless is the amount of time to get hot water to the tap. You will have time to heat the water and distance to travel in the lines. A tank system only has the distance to travel some the water is already hot. How long does it take the water to get got at the far end of the house?

In the end, you are getting lower monthly cost and if sized right infinite hot water.

I just hooked one up in our barn for my wife's horses. Did the whole thing by myself, ended up being kind easy, and I surprised I didn't mess anything up.

Cool site. It seems the plumbers I've talked to have their own vendors.

They won't install it if you buy it? Ask them if I help them with their SEO then I get a link from them and you get a good deal on the water heater.

And to clarify that I'm not "buying" the link, which is a big no-no with google. A good website links out to other authorities in their space, so with us being a large online retailer it would make sense for them to link to us. It would be of good white hat SEO benefit to them.

Most won't because of warranty issues. Going to the local wholesaler if something goes wrong is much easier than dealing with an online site. Plus the products you offer may not be available in the local market so finding an authorized installer is more difficult. For example, your heaters were Takagi while the guys Freak is dealing with do Rinnai.

I appreciate the offers. I had to make a move quickly. I found a local guy who had the unit I wanted and was able to install it this morning. The good news is my kids aren't going to kick me out of the house now. :)

Which unit did you get? How long does it take to get hot?

I'll get the model number and post it later. I don't have it at the moment. I'd say it takes a few seconds longer to get hot, but the tradeoff is worth it to me personally.

With my old heater, and it may have been because it was old, I found myself constantly having to turn the shower dial more toward hot to maintain the same temperature. Not the case with this unit.
