Anyone think # 5 Chris Lofton will be retired ?

I read that to say they can modify the criteria, not for 1 player but to modify it for all players. Making exceptions for one player would be a slippery slope.

I guess it's interpretation of it, as I said I took it as they could change it for one person or in general as a whole criteria. Maybe they didn't specify to leave the door open...

Regardless, lofton qualifies for it and that was the whole point of this.

How about the Lady Vols are any retired ? I know Candace Parker will and should be soon:question:

While a very good player for UT, I would hope the bar is higher than that (CL performance).

In my opinion, Lofton was the epitome of what I want out of a volunteer. An excellent person who puts in the most effort possible, and is actually good at what he does.
Playing through chemo and being considered one of the conference's best while doing it is phenomenal.
Tell me, if he never had cancer and went on to be a 2-time SEC POY and possible 1st Team AA, would you have a different view? I feel like his inability to perform on basketball's highest level, in your eyes, makes his number unretireable, no matter what the criteria says.

4th in career scoring at UT, 1st in the SEC in 3 PT made, multiple single game records, led his teams to 2 #2 NCAA seeds and it's first ever #1 ranking. 1st team all-American and SEC player of the year.

Yeah people do that stuff all the time.

Good thread, Mikey.

I echo this sentiment.

If all of Pearl's players had Lofton's character and heart, there would have probably been a Final Four or two on his resume.
