Can't recall anytime where a top 10 team struggled at home playing Vandy. I'm sure Vandy fans will correct me.
UT struggled against Vandy in the mid-late 90's. They gave Manning fits from 95-97.

Some of y’all won’t realize it until we win another National or at least conference championship, but UT is back among the upper echelon of college football where we belong. Will be a perennial contender for the foreseeable future.
I've been waiting a LONG LONG time to say you are 100% correct Hoss. Tennessee has a seat at the table once again. We may very well have a SEC or Nation Championship or both sitting in our trophy case at the end of the season. The lean year are behind us. Time to feast again Nation

Yeah but, the Defense is a lot more than the Line, as important as it is.
It all starts up front.

We didn’t know if Pili would be healthy or not.
Carter is still young and coming off injury and we lost a bunch of starters, but the better your d-line is the better it covers up weaknesses and gives time for them to become stronger.

In before the polls don’t matter, just win.

They don’t matter much right now, but I still like seeing us in the top 5. Way better than not even being in the top 50.
They do matter more now, though. The higher we can position ourselves early in the season, the better our chances when playoff rankings start rolling out. Getting in the top 5 early and staying there allows for a hiccup later in the season. Not saying I want that, of course, but it’s definitely a little bit of a safety net.

I would like to complain but I can't. I can't think of anybody on that list ahead of us that we should about default be passing. Our offense looked very beatable yesterday. Ole Miss's defense is the only defense on that list that I think would have some trouble with us. Everybody else on that list would give our offense the exact same problem that Oklahoma did. Yeah we put up points, but they more or less shut us down. And to be perfectly honest, if they had started the game with that backup quarterback, we may not be smoking cigars and celebrating a win. They're making me question our secondary again. At no point in time during the game were they able to run. But they were starting to carve us up in the passing game.

Both of their scoring drives came after got roughing the passer calls.

And we were in prevent for one of the drives.
