Yep. And a few regular posters here are anxiously awaiting the first time our Lady Vols get their butts kicked this year. They cannot WAIT for that joyous (for them) day to happen! There has simply been too much good press about Tennessee this year, and they are poised and ready to flood the board with the adjectives “overrated” and “exposed,” mixed in with various forms of “I told you so” and “we’ll be lucky to finish the season ranked,” …. and on and on and on.

So predictable, and even more transparent.
i heard tara say a couple weeks ago stanford pick too many tough games this year

I’m thinking of Keyes and Tamari in the game at the same time.

Bingo. That lineup will play quite a bit against Stanford. Keyen and Fran actually matchup pretty well. Tamari will likely play 35+ minutes if she’s not in foul trouble.

We need to go to Tamari early and often. Brink also is a shot blocker but is not used to having to do so against bigger players than herself. She’s foul prone as it is and she’s close enough in size to Tamari she shouldn’t get the benefit of the whistle just for being smaller.

Could work, but I think that Kellie will give Alexus the opportunity to assert herself in that matchup first. Whoever is at the 4 has to check Haley Jones, and I'm not sure Keyen will be able to chase her around.

We have Tamari, and they do not. We have a Team that plays together. We can beat them.

GO LADY VOLS!!!
From a life-long fan’s perspective, the Stanford game is a mental test. I’ve been through all the years of both winning and losing to Stanford. Our team is so young, and most of the players have never played Stanford, so the game for them is just another ranked opponent without the past tied to it.

Amb, do you think Kellie will start them out in man-to-man? Or that 2-3 zone? I’m curious what her plans are to try to contain Haley Jones AND Lexie Hull. As for Brink, I feel like if Key can hold her to 16 or less AND get a couple of blocks and several successful shot-altering plays on Hull driving the lane, that’ll be TK’s best game of the year — regardless of how much she does or doesn’t score herself.
You didn't ask me but...
Stanford has too many 3pt shooters to zone against.
I would prefer man to man D against them, until it's proven ineffective.

I expect a shakeup in the starting lineup very soon anyway.
This has been a mirror of last year with Marta.

Yes definitely agree! A lot of eyes will be on this game as it’s somewhat of a litmus test to see if we’re really a contender this year or not.

I hope Kellie can pull it out and continue to ride this wave of momentum we have. The positive media attention has been so refreshing! It’s been so long!

Hallelujah! You can say that again 🙌🏼🙌🏼

This is a game I think Miles needs to be ready to play big minutes. Put her on Wilson and shut her down. Put Walker on Hull and Jordan on Jones. Dye vs Belibi honestly should go to Dye based on their play to date. TK vs Brink is going to be a good/interesting matchup that I see TK winning if she’s not in foul trouble(and I don’t think she will be)

Darby I’m not sure if she can handle Hull just yet but could definitely help us out if she can drop 3-5 threes this game. Puckett I’m interested to see what she can do this game offensively against a tough opponent. Keyen will be needed.

My concern is if they play Prechtel and Brink together. We don’t have that kind of experienced size inside.

GBO!

I agree that whoever wins the Brink/Key matchup will play a huge role in the outcome of the game. I disagree that Brink is more polished offensively than Kitley. I think Elizabeth is much better in that regard. Brink has the advantage over Elizabeth because she's tougher and a better defensive player, even if not overall skilled. She'll bring a lot of the same things that Tamari does for Tennessee: rebounding, blocked/altered shots, takes up space. Stanford has the better supporting case, so that's probably where the game will be won if Brink/Key play to a standstill.
The edge is that Key is home and not playing away.

From Kellie's postgame comments, I think the staff see the holes in our freshmen's games that we have not witnessed during game time. They've been carefully put into (and limited to) positions and matchups conducive to success, while they learn and adjust.

Hope I'm wrong, but Stanford is just the kind of team to expose our wonderful freshmen as... well, freshmen nonetheless.

But if so, that's okay. Better now than closer to March.

 Um... I'll take the high road and ask if that's a terrapin reference.

But without hesitation I hope that Tennessee comes out on top.

The post I was responding to says "...to see if tennessee on its back"--an especially unfortunate miss-arrangement of words for a women's team. I was attempting to respond with levity, hoping to acknowledge it before someone else responded in a much cruder fashion. All good.

Our Juniors plus Rae remember that a** whipping they gave us in Kellie’s first year lol I’m about to rewatch that game right now

The only freshmen getting minutes vs Stanford will be Sara and Brooklynn I think they will do fine

If you are Stanford's staff, and with Rae out, which Lady Vol gets the shutdown tag "we will not let _____ beat us!"

Conversely, which Lady Vol will Stanford's staff designate as the "don't worry about her--she's not going to beat us" player they can cheat off of defensively to focus on their shutdown target?

Jordan Horston. she has stepped up in games when the lights on us are bright I could see Stanford baiting Tamari Key and get her in foul trouble as well it would make life easier for them when our shot blocking center is removed from the picture
