I still haven't seen you give any reasons why coaches would be better qualified to put together an unbiased field. The hypothetical issues you're raising would only be solved by having a computer ranking system determine the playoff teams, and I don't think anyone wants that.

Because they know more about football than the former secretary of state, a sportswriter, or a sargent. It should be retired coaches and ADs, not modern coaches, I can see Bamawriters point.

BTW, I'd rather have the computer system. It'd did a great job ranking the top four teams at the end of the year. It would also eliminate human error and politics, which is what the playoff will turn into. I don't trust people that aren't qualified making decisions.

Uggh. The computers were a disaster. Every screw up in the BCS was a result of the computers. Computers can't watch games.

The computers didn't screw up all that often. The only one that sticks out to me is the one where Auburn got scrooged.

How about Nebraska getting destroyed by Colorado and still getting in, only to get destroyed by Miami? Or how about in '03 when both polls had it USC #1, LSU #2, Oklahoma #3, and the computers made it so that #2 played #3 for the right to be #1? And there are great cases to be made that FSU should not have been in the title game in '98 or '00.

Do you think the #5 team deserves to go to the championship? There's usually a vote drop off after #4.

I could get on board with retired coaches and ADs. Current coaches would be a disaster IMO.

It would depend on the situation. I can think of a few years where the #5 team was arguably as deserving as the top 4.

But how would you seed that?

There are different was it could be done:

1. Overall record (not a huge fan of this, but it's an option).

2. Conference champs get seeded by the overall winning percentage of their respective conferences (this might actually lead to better OOC scheduling).

3. Base it on bowl tie-ins:
Round 1: CUSA vs. Sun Belt in whatever bowl wants a steaming pile of crap / AAC vs MAC in Detroit or some junk

Round 2: Pac 12 vs. Big 10 in the Rose / SEC vs CUSA or Sun Belt in the Peach / Big 12 vs. Mountain West in the Fiesta / ACC vs AAC or MAC in the Orange

Round 3: Pac 12 or Big 10 vs. ACC or AAC or MAC in the Cotton / SEC or CUSA or Sun Belt vs. Big 12 or Mountain West in the Sugar

Final: Site up for bid

But such speculation doesn't matter because it's never going to happen.

Makes me angry that she has an opinion on the college football playoff. She was the secretary of state in the second worst administration ever. There are better qualified people's opinions out there than her.

Ok, I'm gonna bite here. Who was the worst ever administration?

An ESPN guy said if you're #4, you can miss the playoff because the injury of a key player.
