I'd like to hear from him if he is. My good friend Steve Colbert was a green beret his 2nd tour. He had great stories and true insight on the war but I never asked him about this movie.

Never was a fan of this movie, to each his own I guess. I preferred Platoon.

My first sgt was a biggggg! Black man.he got burnt real bad in Nam. Openly refered to Asians as the lowest piece of life on earth.
My platoon leader was a master sgt.was a pail faced white guy that was a clerk in Nam and all the other sgts hated him.
My drill sgt in basic training told us about pulling skin of Vietnamese too make clothes to keep warm in the winter...

I was a security risk in a communication company.
Heavy drug use.
Someone painted on the barracks that my cos wife had elephantiasis .lulz

I dodged that and got court-martialed twice for something that could still get me in trouble .

Cool I'll check it out. Hell I gotta get back to reading the Vince Lambardi book "when pride still mattered". I seen another book a few years back called "soul patrol". It was about african American soldiers that served in Veitnam

Plenty of 'em there. Bunch of poor folk doing work. I haven't read that book but I think I remember they were lurps. LRRP.
