I has the confuse. The kid's family/coaches messed something up, or our side messed up? He just got the offer to UT a day or two ago. What could his side have messed up in a matter of days?

Sounds like we dropped the ball on our side.

On the plus side unless one of the staff made a pass at his mom it’s no worse than has happened before here.

So a late eval and offer? If that is the worst of it then that isn't really embarrassing. This is all speculation though. If the kid chooses elsewhere then I wish him luck.

I just don’t get it. Most of the information in the other thread leads a reader to believe that this kid desperately wanted to get in touch with TN because he is a big fan and he was an “unknown prospect” until June. He apparently is not happy that we didn’t reach out sooner but if you replace the word “Tennessee” in this situation with “Alabama” or “Georgia” does anyone believe that a lifelong Alabama or Georgia fan is going to say no to those schools if they slow played them.

He got the offer he wanted, so if he’s upset then that’s fine. He has the right to be. I just doubt he’s actually that big of a Tennessee fan. I’d be in Knoxville in a heartbeat if I ever got a TN offer.

I don’t know. But I think “huge” Tennessee fans wouldn’t let a late offer turn them off our program. And I find it hard to believe our staff conducted themselves unprofessionally.

Even if it turns out to be an elite LB?

Not saying this kid will turn out to be elite. I have no idea. But if you have a chance at an elite player at any position, seems like you would take it and make the numbers work.

Exactly. The thread OP went directly from pleading that dude needs to get an offer and pretending that our staff didn't know of the guy and that the guy's coach father didn't know how to contact us, and also that the kid absolutely loves the Vols as his lifelong dream school -- straight to raving that our coaches offended the recruit, who he is not coming here because of our coach. This happened the very second that the recruit posted that he had an offer from us. He is now in the recruit's thread with it.

Someone said offered PWO. But you’re a big TN fan that is under the radar, finally get your film to them after they are filled at LB and the staff messed up by offering a PWO? Was he expecting them to drop one of the other LBs? Or tell Cole no thanks?

Just strange it went from no contact to they have his film, evaluated it, offered a PWO, upset him, and he declined in the matter of several hours.
