'24 AR LB Wyatt Simmons (Arkansas commit)

Being honest, you should probably go ahead and explain what happened so we can all stop speculating and move on. Saying it now vs after he commits doesn't change anything, so might as well say it and get it over with.
Let's not encourage MPW to post a rumor here. He is showing restraint.

If people stop asking him, it looks like he is willing to let it go for the greater good.

He could have just said nothing though. People are justifiably curious about what, according to him, was a serious recruiting misstep committed by our staff.

Idk if I agree that its the "greater good" by doing what he did, saying Tennessee/Heupel disrespected the kid/his family but not saying what exactly happened which has left room for dozens of people to speculate scenarios. Everything from this entire situation was a charade, to the kid/his family are soft babies, to Heupel said something to insult them.

He's already spread a rumor, the problem is the rumor is vague. If you're gonna spread a rumor, might as well be specific.

Some assistant coach Texted him an offer saying " you know you have an offer"

He had never heard from Tennessee before in any manor.

It’s easier for him to trash our staff and act like we acted unprofessionally rather than just say what happened. The fact that he’s not saying what happened just further proves that it really wasn’t that big of a deal and was probably just a late eval and offer and the family felt disrespected, which okay fine feel that way but that is a very normal thing in recruiting. I refuse to believe this staff that’s entire thing is “culture” is out there treating kids poorly. Nothing we’ve seen the past 3 years would indicate they would ever do something like that so why start now?

It makes a big difference if it is errors of omission vs commission.

So, Heupel needs to come sit in his living room and apologize because an assistant texted him, "You know you have an offer."

Did the family expect a surprise party and a 7 layer cake?

He dropped the rumor by "accident" already. That is more than enough. Just let this thread die.

That's no big deal. He is a huge Tennessee fan, on your word. He has an offer now.

It sounds more and more like you and maybe some others acting the same way are instigating drama. But all of this is immaterial. Just let it go.

You don't need an explanation or excuse, in case he goes elsewhere. He is living his own life. It's not your offer, and you are not him. I don't think he and his family need your help.
