The 2010 Auburn team was an average team that was taken to unfathomable heights thanks to the unworldly talents of Cam Newton, now imagine Auburn without ole Scam. Actually you don't have to imagine anything just look at the 2011 and 2012 post Newton seasons to see how that worked out. Now for a look at A&M, as we all have seen A&M was also taken to ridiculous new highs (per expectations) in 2012 almost entirely because of the otherworldly talents of Johny Manziel. A glance into the post Johny years may that be next season or the following two seasons also reveals similar potential for a train wreck of season. Mainly in my opinion because of A&M's unreliable defense, this past season they had to be completely carried by a legendary Manziel performance just to barely squeak by La. Tech 59-57. If that trend of defensive unaccountability continues this season We can expect a similar meltdown in College Station in the very near future, we've all witnessed what a horrible defense will do to a program and I think A&M is about to witness it too.

It was but I think Bama under executed. Also I believe they gave up a fairly large amount of points to ole miss, I just can't get over 57 points to La.Tech!

The Aggie offense will be near the top of the league. The Aggie defense will be near the bottom of the league.

Exactly, once Johnny leaves they are going go likely be in a world of hurt similar to Auburn.

Nonsense...Texas produces too many quality football players for TAMU to fall off the map, especially with Mack Brown doing all he can to run Texas into the ground before he retires.

Sumlin's worst season at Houston was 5-7, and he followed up that season with a 12-win and 11-win season before taking the Texas A&M job.

Chizik had a couple 3-win seasons and a 2-win season at Iowa State before taking the AU job.

Sumlin is on a different planet than Chizik.

I don't see why a Texas kid would choose college station over Austin.

Austin is so awesome.

It seems that Texas has historically held a pretty large recruiting edge over A&M especially when you factor in Oklahoma competing for those recruits.

I think you're all in for a disappointment if you eagerly anticipate the future shortcomings of the program here in College Station.

The landscape of the SEC West is changing rapidly, and to quote Coach Sumlin. "Well, you'll see."

You could make the argument that it's not relevant because the Aggies are in the SEC now which greatly improves recruiting, but at the same time look at the new up and coming programs in that area like OSU and TCU that will surely steal away some recruits from A&M.

How is the landscape of the West changing!!? Alabama and LSU are dominating it like they have for most of history (1992)

TAMU competes primarily against OU and Texas for recruits, and you're right...the SEC affiliation makes TAMU much more attractive than they used to be.

But if OSU and TCU continue to gain prestige then they could certainly muddy the A&M recruiting landscape. You've been a great Argument for a Gator.

A&M will continue to get top 10-15 classes year in and year out due to being in Texas and in the SEC. That being said, when big brother finally gets a new coach, they will become big brother yet again.

Depends on several factors there.

One being how long the folks in Austin continue to conduct businessby using the good ole boy network. I hope Mack gets an extension frankly.

I don't see TCU or Oklahoma State with a better story to sell at this point.

And I tend to make sense more often than not. It comes with growing old...thanks for the kind words. :hi:

and some of you need to check up on some recruiting news out of College Station if you think the cubbard is going to be bare sans JFF.

You might be right, but in my opinion aside from that big time draft pick lineman and Manziel, that they were about an average team.

I think we watched different teams.

TAMU played UF and LSU tough in close losses, and they took it to Alabama and Oklahoma.

If TAMU was average in 2013, then 85% of CFB teams were below average.
