Are people really already giving up on Worley??

We are ranked 110th in yards per pass attempt....out of 125 teams.

91st in yards per completion

We rank 111th in completion percentage

Even with meager statistics like this Worley manages only a 55% completion percentage. This means even with all the super short screens, dump offs and 3 or 4 yard passes he still can't manage a decent completion percentage. The offense is tailored at the moment around his LACK of ability and LACK of arm strength to throw the ball into the middle of the field and his inability to run. He holds the entire offense back.

Numbers don't lie, he is one of the worst QBs in the entire country statistically with a pretty large sample size to go off of.

Worley is not the future. We've burned Dobbs redshirt, have a .500 season, let Dobbs mature. I don't question Worley's heart, but you have to question his ability.

Let's see. I spent the whole off-season hoping either Peterman or one of the freshmen would be so dazzling to Butch that he had no choice but to play them. Then I watched the spring game and realized it couldn't be Peterman. I still had hopes for one of the freshmen. I was pretty sure, though, that with just a few weeks to show off, and with Peterman already getting all the #2 snaps, there was very little chance of this happening. I resigned myself to mediocrity and have yet to be disappointed.

So, to the OP: I don't understand the word "already".

Injury or not, he's not exactly been tearing it up all year. He's a junior, so if he has not gotten better at this point, he probably never will.

JW is clearly not playing at the level of other junior QBs around the country. IMO he probably wouldn't start at any of the current top 25 schools. Hope he proves me wrong !

Is this a joke?

The man led us to our first upset in 4 years and he doesn't play well with an injury against the #1 team in the country and everyone is ready to see him benched??

Good grief, are people stupid or just irrational? Or both?

Both.

I think the masses have been far too hard on our QB's. Worley the main target lately, but I haven't seen a QB in 6yrs anyone said much positive about. It's like if you aren't a big playmaker on the field, with spotless off-field stuff, and the best team attitude, then you suck. Now, granted, I don't like when players seem to have an attitude, or an off-field incident or two, but that doesn't mean they need to be blasted out of town if they have some blemishes/imperfections.

It is true that he did lead us to our first upset in a while, but if a player is hurt… he is hurt. If he is ready to play the next game he will play, but if not…someone else has to step up. No one is giving up on Worley, in fact the coaches and fans care for him too much to see him injury he's self even more than he has!

He led us to our first upset?

That is an insult to Marlon Walls, Daniel McCullers, Rajion Neal, Marquez North and Michael Palardy......the players that ACTUALLY led us to victory.

Worley just happened to not turn the ball over and complete a few passes that every college QB should be expected to make. He played average and on that particular day that is all it took. Average won't be enough from this point out if we wanna go bowling.

I have to say I give it to Worley and admire his courage and willingness to stand up proud for UT.

He has been given his opportunities. I think, in my opinion, with the OLine we have, I would have changed sooner.

But that being said it is not like we have a Alabama or Georgia cup cake schedule, so it may have been better to go with Worley and just see how it unfolds. He was man enough to get in there and take one for the Nation so I think he has earned our support. It may not have turned out how we all may have wanted but how many of us could keep getting up when this many people are looking and keep our head up and try perform.. Although it was not good to watch I'm proud of the young man for hanging in there.

If these younger kids learned anything from Worley, stand in there, take your hits, your ints, bad throws and come out with your head up and try harder. The Volnation will support you!!

Worley is a Tennessee Vol so i support him whole heartily.. But Worley has been Getting 1st Team reps with at best average results. My Vols are now 4-4 ,With 3 wins against sub par teams and an Overrated SC team. Tennessee is one of the top football programs in the country and our QB should reflect that. With that being said IMO Worley is not the "QB of Tomorrow" He is on the later part of his collegiate football career. And with CBJ not having a QB in the 2014 recruiting class Dobbs or Ferguson has to be our future QB. Dobbs deserves 1st team reps. At some point we have to turn the page. GBO!

Rumor is, 'Worley is practicing with his left hand and the Neal is teaching him the 2 handed heave.'

Some never held JW up as our starter, so for us it's not even a matter of "giving up on him."

Too bad neither freshman has enough body of work to truly judge. But the eye test says Dobbs > Worley, thumb problem or no.

You have to admit, he does not have the speed to run this type of O.
