Are people really already giving up on Worley??

Is this a joke?

The man led us to our first upset in 4 years and he doesn't play well with an injury against the #1 team in the country and everyone is ready to see him benched??

Good grief, are people stupid or just irrational? Or both?

Worley may not start another game. Is Butch stupid? Or irrational?

Coaching, An O-line with 4-5 future NFL'ers, Pig Howard, The Catch of the Decade by North, and a D who took Shaw out of the game beat South Carolina. Worley didn't beat South Carolina. To his credit, he ALMOST beat Georgia, but seriously--Worley doesn't look like an SEC QB.

His passing is at best, erratic as hell. He doesn't have a feel for the game. He hands off to Neal and Lane when a DE is crashing through the line, only to get them DESTROYED by said DE. If he had a feel for the game, he'd avoid the sack, and throw the ball out of bounds.

He can't even throw it out of bounds 1/2 the time--tried to do it against Oregon and Florida, and was picked off!!!!

Dobbs looked like a third year starter out there. Looked calm, cool, collected. Spirals were tight, passes dead-on.

Worley has done all he can do. Time for talent to lead this team, and get even more momentum for next year.

I'm happier as a fan than I've been since Kiffin almost beat Bama.

Future looks bright...

Every game this year Worley has underthrown his intended receiver at least 3 times a quarter. I don' remember which game because I had to watch it online so it must have been the West Kentucky game, but Worley had North WIDE FREAKING OPEN down the seam and he under threw him forcing North to stop on a dime just to tip the ball to himself to catch it. At that point I didn't even complain about Worley, but after that and then seeing him do the samething throughout that game confirmed what I was reading on this board leading up to that game...he under throws receivers a lot. Yesterday he kept throwing intentional walks because most of his passes were either high, away, or high & away. From what I saw Dobbs do keep him in until he proves he's not ready because clearly Worley has proven that much. North is the reason we won against SC and not Worley. Worley threw two hailmaries to North. One of them North literally had to come back to the ball and pluck the ball away from the defender and the second one is the one everybody knows about along the sideline on his shoulder pad.

Worley has done what he needed to do while the new program has been put in. He's been a leader, and regardless of how much credit some will refuse to give him, he beat a soon to be top 10 team in SC for the biggest win for us in years. That supposedly lucky pass to North was thrown on the money with 2 dl in his face. That he gets no credit for that and not turning the ball over is silly.
Another thing that's silly that some jackass posted was that Alabama was basically playing a prevent against Dobbs when they were doing no such thing, and actually blitzed him multiple times.
It's time for Dobbs. Butch doesn't have to worry about locker room issues with a change, Dobbs is his handpicked guy, there is a thumb issue, and Dobbs flat out has a better release, throws a nicer ball, is more athletic for our offense, and actually looked off a receiver or two yesterday, which is something I hadn't seen all year.
Butch will highly disappoint me if Dobbs isn't starting. He wasn't ready earlier in the year and is obviously ready enough now.

Er...a bunch of people on here basically gave up on Worley before the season and were already asking for Dobbs or Ferguson. Whether right or wrong (I personally think wrong), it's been going on for a while.

I feel for Worley because he was improving before his injury. Still, you do have to play the best player, and a healthy Dobbs is better than injured Worley, as others have said. As far as healthy vs. healthy...I'll let Butch decide that one.

Alex Smith got hurt after doing pretty well at SF. Then Kaepernick took over, outperformed him and got the starting job.

It's not that Worley sucks, he's a so-so QB that isn't terrible. It's just that the ceiling is so much higher with Dobbs than Worley. We're currently almost dead last in the SEC for passing offense. That has to change.
Good call

Even if Worley wasnt injured, he still cant perform like Dobbs. If Worley is as good as the Worley faithfull believe, then he would have secured the position, leading up to Florida.... QB spot became opened up. Dobbs performed better and showed more leadership in one half than Worley has all year. Worley should get respect and a purple heart but not lead our Vols to a bowl game.

go back two years....Are people really giving up on Bray?
Dool put Worley in in the fourth quarter and played Worley the next game..:loco:

I like Worley but lets face it he's not up for this kind of competition. We've done burnt the redshirt on Dobbs so if were going to take our lumps we might as well play Dobbs and get him the experience. GO VOLS!

No, it's not end of discussion. The coaches are not going to base a decision like that solely on a second half performance against the #1 team in the country who was basically playing the 2nd half to protect a lead. These coaches have worked with our QB's every day since August! They know what each of them can and can't do! If Worley is healthy and ready to go I'd say he'll be the started on Saturday.

Dobbs stood tall with poise and threw darts with authority and accuracy. His incompletions were mostly drops. Worley has grit and is all Vol but he isn't the QB Dobbs is.

I would really temper my expectations about Dobbs at this point . He looked good ..sure . The kid has a ton of upside . He was playing at garbage time ...the other team had a 35 point lead. They were playing a very soft zone D with very little pressure. That is alot different that what will be seen in a game that is wide open .

There is a reason the coaches have not put him on the field until this point ..other than the redshirt. I am not sure what it was ..but the coaches had a reason.

I hope Dobbs is all that ...I will just have to wait until he has played some snaps when defense is playing him competitively

Nah, not giving up on Worley. He has shined at moments and thrown some good balls the last 3 or 4 weeks. He has grown. But, if we have to waste a redshirt, then lets give Dobbs the reins and see what he can do...let's get ready to rumble next years and get these guys grown up..

Hats off to Worley though...a true Vol and team player.

I'm not giving up on Worley but Dobbs looked good in the second half.

Just watched the replay, saw dobbs throw over heads and out in front of possible receivers. i want the guy who canwas manage the offense and make the big play when needed. Like worley to north against usce. Fan favorite not always the best choice. Go Big Orange!

Can someone tell me how Worley won the Gatorade National Player of the Year? (which they don't hand out lightly)
Was it the cupcake high school teams he was playing against in South Carolina?
Was it when Dooley burned his redshirt when he wasn't ready?

I mean Peyton Manning, Emmitt Smith, Matt Barkley and Tim Couch won this award and they had somewhat of decent college careers.

It is mind boggling on how Worley has not lived up to his hype.

I think Dobbs should get the start next week based on the merits of how he handled his playing opportunity.

I do have to get Worleys back . He played for Dooley his first two seasons. Dooley is not exactly regarded as a bastion of player and talent development . As physically talented as some of his players were ...they lacked fundamental football skills.

This is his first year as a starter , with all around new coaches and a new scheme , playing one of the most brutal schedules in memory. Couple that with the fact that his receivers consist of walk-ons, freshmen , and a couple of guys that were running backs last year.

Would you expect him to be Manning-esk at this point ? I think he was developing and will continue to do so into next season.

Two things.

One, I'll pull for either or both. I like both guys. I end up defending Worley a lot because frankly much of the criticism he takes here is ignorant, stupid, or both.

Two, if Worley starts, there is no longer a need for the coaches to tell him not to run on the read option. Dobbs RS is gone. They now have a back up ready to play with no reason for coach second guessing. Worley HAS proven he can run a little... and that's all it takes. This O becomes much more dangerous if D's can't ignore the QB run.

Worley is serviceable at best. It is what it is. He didn't win the USC game, North, Pig, and our RB's did. That said, he is tougher than nails.

Matt Simms was pretty tough too. Never seen a guy turn tackling dummy and still keep playin like him. But if we had a better option we would've used it. Same story here, BUT I'll let the coaches decide that one. Whoever walks out there likely is the one who gives us the best chance to win that day.

Worley's first chance to be "the guy" was with all inexperienced WR's. Anyone who has to think real hard about why he hasn't lit up the stats.... should really stop trying to overthink it. Worley has talent. He may or may not be better than Dobbs. I'll trust Jones on that. But the guy isn't the dud many here want to claim... and saying he has talent DOES NOT mean none of the others have talent. It never ceases to amaze how many here have to believe one guy "sucks" to believe another guy is good or better.
