Are there any skeptics?

There are a lot of TRUE fans that are not satisfied with just a winning season. Like last year, our losses to FLA and LSU were one possession losses but Most of us would consider last year a mediocre year at best. When you cannot beat your biggest rivals you are not improving. That is all we are wanting. We have to listen to the asinine recruiting talk year in and out about us having a top five recruiting class. So if you believe that, why is it not translating to on the field success? If they are the best players in the nation when they get here why are we not one of the best teams in the nation at the end of the year? We should have been just as good a team as LSU this year. If we had taken care of business in Cal and Bama we would have been. Are Cal and Bama as talented as we made them look? What about Southern Miss were they the BCS busters we tried to make them out to be? South Carolina was embarrassing, Vandy was lucky, Kentucky was almost the same as Carolina. We played some great football in the first half this year. But the problem is, they make you come back out after the band plays.

So no we are not expecting championships ever year. But at least improve and lets try to get to a place where we can contend.

Nobody is acting all "giddy" i am just saying the season wasnt a total failure. Thats all, nothing more nothing less.
Of course it wasn't a total failure but in the end, what do we have to show for it? A solid win over Georgia and an Outback bowl trophy. It is what it is, but I just expect a little more from a program like Tennessee.

I would rather be playing Hawaii in the Sugar Bowl had we had coordinator that had more than 5 different plays in his playbook with 658 different variations of screens. Not that much skeptical of Phil as I have been Cut since the Bama game.

So what kind of offense would you like to see?

Ainge looked great when he stood in the pocket. When he rolled out...not so much.

Ainge looked like a little boy who was running for his life because the school yard bully was trying to steal his lunch money. Ainge would do well in St. Louis if he got drafted there.

the ratio of new OC/ Outback bowl discussion, the past couple of weeks, pretty much sums up how many of us feel about the season. its great to play on Jan 1 and come out with a bowl win, but there is alot to be desired about the season, as a whole.

I would have to agree. I was just hoping you wouldn't say you liked the spread offense.

The spread offense is like a beautiful blonde. It's fun to watch and mess with for a while, but then it gets old because you know she's not one that is going to stick around for any good length of time.

In the past the offense has been productive at times, but as soon as we get a lead, or go to the second half, We have a tendancy to try to sit on the lead. More times than not, with the style of offense we have had in the past in the big games, especially Alabama, we play more not to lose than a gameplan to win.

I am not saying bring in the Spread, or the Notre Dame Box, or the Wishbone. I just want some coaches that are going to use the talent that we have, gets the most out of them, and come into a game with a gameplan that attacks the weaknesses of our opponents and creates miss-matches that give us the best chances at winning. With the development of Berry and Vinson, along with the growth of our Linebackers, the defense could develop into one of the most aggressive we have seen in some time. But if they are on the field 40+ minutes a game and do the majoity of the scoring we will be having discussions a lot more heated than this next year. I am truly truly uncomfortable when talking about our offensive outlook for next year.

How about we don't get killed by our main rivals.

That would be a nice start.

I wonder if Crompton gets the starting job, struggles, and we have another qb rollercoaster like in '05... please tell me that Fulmer learned the right lessons from that season.

Okay, who wants to put down our Vols and coaching staff -Phil inlcuded?

Not me! As I mentioned earlier in the season, I thought it was possible to win between 9 and 11 games. If the Vols hadn't turned over the ball twice in the 4th quarter against LSU, the Vols could have had 11 wins and could have gone to the Sugar Bowl rather than Georgia.
After losing to Bama and the remaining schedule it looked rough down the stretch. It could have been a 7-5 season in lieu of the Vols going to the SEC Championship game. Never give up on our Vols until the bell sounds.

How about our men's basketball team? Hope they can keep it up! I think the men's team has a good shot at winning the SEC and possibly the SEC tourney. I think the men will be a top 10 at the end of the regular season.
GO VOLS!

Should have, could have been, a couple plays, would have if we didn't turn over the ball.

I hate these words. If you didn't do it, it don't make a damn what you could have done.

Thank you BUSINESS. I think you single handed summed up most of our feelings over the last three or four years. We lost by one. We were three minutes away from being 9-0. If Erik hadn't thrown that interception. (Repeat that last sentence about ten times) We could have been great, but the fact is we aren't and wasn't. And that is why most of us are not satisfied with a ten win, Outback Bowl Trophy carrying team that when the day is said and done, got our ass kicked by bammer and the gators. And after watching them the rest of the year and in the bowl games, you really think they were as good as the scoreboard said they were..........

While I give the Vols credit for getting it turned around somewhat, some of the play calling today was just bad. I mean like Ashlee Simpson trying to sing bad.

She doesn't have to try, it comes naturally.

I would have to say the fumbleruski or whatever it was, defies logic, and leaving Jones in for the second play of the other drive was equally dumb, obvious I know, but assuming CCut called them, He is not going quickly enough.
