The only teams that should be capable of beating us now during the regular season are Georgia and, if we beat Georgia, the SEC West champion (likely Alabama again). Were we to lose to either team, we would end the regular season with one loss and that to a top SEC team. At 11-1 or 12-1 in the SEC, are we almost certain to be a playoff team, even if we lose to Georgia or in the SEC championship game?

I don’t know about for certain, but we did just beat a playoff caliber team. We beat Georgia in the regular season, I think we are a lock then.

At this point, and yes there is still a lot of football
To be played, but if the playoffs were to happen next week we absolutely would be. I mean there isn’t a team above us that has a better resume right now.

No. It depends on the other conferences. Reality is that an undefeated conference champ from a P5 conference would get in over us. A 1-loss conference champ could as well depending on the team.

Kinda gonna depend on what happens the next few weeks chief.

We beat Ga, win out, and go to the SEC championship game, we are in.

We lose to Ga but win out otherwise Georgia beats Bama in the SeC championship, we are in.

Lose to Ga, win out otherwise, and Bama beats Ga in the SeC ship. Then we get shut out. No way they put 3 SEC teams in. Sad but true

If we lose to Georgia, and Georgia runs the table, then Georgia will be in the SEC title game. The dawgs still have to play florida, mississippi state, kentucky, so they could slip up--but they'll certainly be favored in all of those games.

So then you could have unbeaten Georgia playing, say, one-loss Bama in the SEC title game, as I think bama will beat Ole Miss. (I'll be shocked if they don't). So then if Georgia beats bama in the title game, assuming we don't lose any other games, we should be in the playoff. But if one-loss bama beats georgia in the SEC title game, then we might have a problem. That almost certainly would ensure that both bama and georgia are in the playoffs, and the osu-michigan winner is going to be in the 3rd team in the playoff. And then? If Clemson is undefeated, then we'll probably get left out--as the committee will not put 3 SEC teams in the playoff, especially if Clemson is undefeated. There's also a chance a Big12 team (Ok State) could go undefeated--though they've got some tough games left and a one-loss UT ought to get the nod over a Big12 team.

Let's just keep winning and it will take care of itself. I think we'll beat Georgia, frankly.
