Stupid question. After what I saw last year I considered Tennessee to be a playoff team this year beginning 2/1/22.The only teams that should be capable of beating us now during the regular season are Georgia and, if we beat Georgia, the SEC West champion (likely Alabama again). Were we to lose to either team, we would end the regular season with one loss and that to a top SEC team. At 11-1 or 12-1 in the SEC, are we almost certain to be a playoff team, even if we lose to Georgia or in the SEC championship game?
Right now i think Tennessee goes 11-1 and gets ignored by the Playoff voters and go to the Orange Bowl to play Syracuse.
I think 12-0 Georgia plays 11-1 Ole Miss in the SECCG.If we go 11-1 and Ga beats Bama in the SEC championship, I think we have a shot.
That hope will be because we are absolutely lethal on offense and quite frankly that is what brings eyeballs anymore whether that is right or wrong.
The CFB would be creaming themselves at the prospect of a 63-61 shootout over yet another 31-10 snorefest of a semifinal game.
Funny when you stop to think about it. We just came out of three years with Pruitt where our offense even producing a first down felt like an accomplishment 18 months later we start clutching at pearls whenever someone mentions the word punt.
We gotta win out to make the playoffs. That's not including the SEC CG. This year is loaded with teams in all power 5 conferences that have a shot at making the playoffs. So we mist at least win out in the regular season.
Well Clemson and Syracuse are both undefeated for the ACC, TCU undefeated for the big 12, UCLA undefeated for the pac 12 and Oregon hasn't lost a Pac 12 game. OSU and Michigan still haven't lost either.I sincerely doubt that to be true. The only real way that happens is if Clemson wins out, UGA and Bama (or OM) both get in, and OSU/MI get in undefeated. Otherwise a 1 loss regular season UT still gets in
