..you were the day Bush took office? I am. That said, I do not credit or blame the POTUS for my personal successes or lack thereof. But do realize that the decisions and philisophies made by the man in that office will trickle down and affect me on some level. If that is so, and he is so bad, then why I am doing better than I was 8 years ago? What about you?

That is a difficult one for me to answer. When GWB took office I was in my senior year of high school... since then I have graduated high school, gotten my BSME, and gotten married.

Thing is, all those things would PROBABLY have happened to me no matter who the POTUS was.

All that said, my parents are certainly better off now than then...

Agreed. I don't hold the POTUS responsible for making sure I have a job and many other things. That is why I am curious why all this angry "change" is needed?

Definitely better off than I was 8 years ago --- except that I've lost all my civil rights and I'm personally affected by the hate Europeans have for the USA :)

people don't understand how it all works. one man can be blamed for all the problems we've had. i don't think bush was a bad president, not his fault that 9/11 happened, not his fault on that Katrina hit where it did. however, i'm not for a democratic congress, dem. pres, etc. i think we wld be screwed big time. also there are just things i don't agree w/ obama. i don't agree on several things mccain says either, but obama is just way off w/ me

Went from being a DINK (dual income no kids) to a one income, five person family in three years. Yep, I've fared well enough.

Europeans have always hated me, and my new "nanny" is actually from Canada (not Mexico). I must be a trend setter. Go figure.

Way worse. The weak dollar makes conducting business overseas very painful, just for starters.

I am no doubt better off, but don't believe it has anything to do with the administration.

I'm a little offended that everyone is mentioning the Euro hatred without throwing in the Middle East. Our moves there have spawned more anti-US sentiment than we could ever have imagined. Hell, they might even take some hostages over there at some point.

OK....where are the Obamers? They do have an opinion, right?

Just curious as to why we are trying to become the USSA?

That's the dumbest thing I've ever heard. The weak dollar might make your trips more expensive, but should make your products massively more competitive and allow you to make more money on them.

Yes, I am better now than I was in 2000, not just financially, but in many ways. There are certain circumstances in our lives which can only be controlled by ourselves and the POTUS has no bearing on it. EVER

Is our nation better??? Not even close, and that is what we should be asking ourselves. America has now, more than ever, become a "ME" society and no matter what any of you say, just because you are better off now doesn't mean things are fine. I will stop there

Products are more competitive, services, not so much.

... and you say this as if it is bad, while propping up a candidate that wants to expand socialist/welfare type programs? That's brave...

1. Actually, the new generation (the Millenials) are more "we" than any generation we've seen in a long time. They volunteer more, are more optimistic and have more of a shared common purpose view than Gen X's or Boomers. They came of age under this administration so it's hard to suggest that W did that to them.

2. "just because you are better off..." Clearly if enough "you's" are better off it follows that things are better. Things are likely never "fine".

how so? Pricing doesn't just apply to products.

If you're providing services overseas and the dollar slide has hurt you to the point that you can't make it up in pricing (which sounds crazy to me), then you should find something else to do or ply your wares stateside, where the exchange rates are immaterial.

Also, trending my retirement portfolio from 1995 to now shows something negative happened along the way.

In 1995, the Dow first cracked 4000 and made it to just over 5000. If you portfolio is down from then you might want to reevaluate your strategy...
