Are you old enough to remember when...

The Tennessee Volunteers Football team...

...struggled to be bowl eligible, winning less than five games in the regular season? '05, '08, '11, '12, '13, '17, '18, '20...six out of ten years!

...went an entire decade winning only 50% of their games? 2010-2020

...lost to all three of Alabama, Florida, and Georgia in 11 out of 14 years? (79% loss between 2008-2021)

...went 9-49 in games versus AP top 25 ranked teams? (84% loss between 2010-2021)

...won 0 out of 39 games versus AP top 10 ranked teams? 2007-2021

...went 29-61 versus SEC opponents? (68% loss between 2010-2020)

Football life feels so much better these days. Never thought UT would dig out of the hole. Keep putting on more steam!
What's wrong with you, brother? Why would you intentionally raise SO MANY bad memories?

Let's live the good life while we have it, shall we?

Go Vols!

........I think most of us on here are old enough to remember the 10's at least......unless we got a bunch of 14 year olds on here (Which judging from some posters may actually be true.)
I think we have a bunch of people in here who are just band wagon fans and act like they're teenagers with some of their comments.

I've been on here long enough to know who they are by reading just a few words of their posts.

I skip a bunch of posts :) :) :) :)

I'm old enough to remember students in the middle of Cumberland Avenue yelling "go to hell, 'Bama" on Oct. 16, 1982. It's a bit piecemeal going much further back than that. I'm also old enough to just make stuff up now, too, so there's that.
I was on Cumberland on that date. Don't remember what was yelled, but enjoyed the win nonetheless.

This makes me feel ashamed of myself for getting upset when mistakes were made in earlier games this year. I remember being in the wilderness. I remember one time when a Bama fan made a snide and dismissive remark about us not being relevant anymore. It hurt for sure. Imagine getting upset now if all we do is go to a bowl game! What a turnaround!

I remember Tennessee football since the 1940s. I have seen a lot of ups and downs and enjoyed almost every minute of those years. I have learned to appreciate the good and live through the bad. I like where we are now.

I don’t think “old” is the term to use for people who remember our decade of dysfunction (or really 15 years). I feel sorry for those fans who “came of age” and started watching games during that time range. Guessing you all wouldn’t be much older than early 30s. That one little stretch is probably the worst period in our 120+ year history. Just a blip in time. I’m old enough to remember beating Georgia like 9 years in a row, Bama 7 years in a row and UT-FL deciding a chance at a Natty. Hang on, thinks are about to get “normal” again.

I’m also old enough to remember when the Vols had a 7 game winning streak against Bama and 9 game winning streak against UGA in roughly the same timeframe.

I’m just young enough that the ‘98 season happened before I was football aware, and just old enough to remember 10-win seasons being kind of ho-hum. Didn’t get to experience the glory days, but still with enough perspective to fully realize just how sucky the Kiff through Pruitt years were.

You don’t ever forget that. I just hope the fans don’t take it for granted and just think we can hire anybody and keep it rolling.. or We will be right back there

That puts context on the program, pre-Kiffin for the folks who aren’t old enough to have experienced how good UT historically was.
