I was in a rush at lunch today and thought I heard on WVLT that BP had said what it would take for him to leave UT for another job. Anyone know what this is about? Would the fickle fans we have, myself included, be a factor? :zeitung_lesen:

I honestly don't see him leaving....He isn't taking near as much heat as Fulmer was taking this year. LOL

he wouldn't be fired. he may leave for some more money, but i think we are safe in knoxville. really the only open that scares me is kentucky. they have alot of money to blow.

yes hes upset because of our crappy band wagon fans that want to cut off his head every times he loses. If he leaves it will be because of the fans IMO and it will be a HUGE loss to UT sports. The Sports Animal was talking about this earlier and callers were very pissed with how horrible our fans have treated Bruce this year. Even the KNS guys were upset about it. KNS is trying to get people to call into to all radio stations to show your support for our coach and bball team. I have been warning people of this on here and got blasted for it. The way I see it is you are either a UT fan or a band wagon jumper. Fans stick through it even when it gets bad. Whats funny is it isnt even bad. Our bball team is in the NCAA and won the east but that still isnt good enough. wow

To play devil's advocate, when is it ok to criticize? I mean, we fell way below HIS expectations for the season. I know we have BW fans that complain way too much and take it too far, but I'm tired of the fact that every time someone has a fair complaint, people jump their ass about it.

Agreed, I've been defending him all year. I mean hell I get mad when we lose, but never once have I blamed CBP for it. It's not his fault our players are NBA one night and High School the next.

I'm not worried about leaving for another college job, but Grunfield may come calling with the Wizards job.

i just don't think we are that bad. i have faith in pearl. we are not going to get a better coach here.

Thanks for letting us know that it's not OK to ever be critical of UT coach. Bottom line is that Bruce Pearl raised the expectations beyond just making the NCAAs, and the SEC is putrid this year which diminishes the accomplishment of winning our division. While I'm a big Pearl supporter, I also think its OK to be critical when the coaches are not doing a good job. Oh, and can you document the tons of people (even on this site) that are calling for CBP to be fired - I can't even count them on one hand.

Well your expectations were very unrealistic IMO. We lost half of our team last year and still won the sec east. We are still in the NCAA tourney as well. What else did you want? Im not talking about comments said here on VN. Im talking about obvious fan reactions that Bruce has noticed at bball games. He has mentioned it really bothering him so I guarantee he will start looking around if it continues. Mark my words if we lose Bruce our bball program will suffer for years to come.

Yes, his leaving would be a detriment to our success. But, he's the one that said we should be competing for REAL championships. HE raised the bar, not us. He recruits, molds, and dictates what happens on the court. I'm not bad mouthing CBP by any means, but don't get mad when you strive for greatness and then deliver less than said.

Im not pointing any fingers at you guys at all. Sorry if you feel that way at all. Im just a very concerned and proud vol fan like you whom thinks there are some whom have taken things a little too far this year.

i just couldnt see bruce anywhere else. its ok to criticize what went wrong and all but callin him an idiot, and horrible coach is when its goin overboard. if we had a true point guard, i think it would help our offense tremendously. im prolly a minority when i say this year was a great coaching job but playin a two guard at the point and a defensive specialist as his back up; i thought we did a fine job gettin through all this.

We could always try to get Wade Houston or Buzz peterson back. They were so much better than Bruce Pearl. (Sarcasm)
