Not gate keeping at all. He claimed he is a moderate conservative, I would like to know what conservative ideals he has. I suspect not many. Just like you, you claim to be a moderate but I've not seen much from you that proves that.

I, for the life of me don't understand why liberals are so ashamed of their idealogical stances.

If being conservative means holding faith and family as sacred, seeing life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness as inalienable rights, standing up for the freedom to speak without fear of retribution by the government and for the right to bear arms to protect oneself and ones family, desiring smaller, leaner, fiscally responsible government with less encroachment into my personal life, and believing there is nobility and honor found in serving one's country as a member of the armed forces? Yeah. That's me.

If being a conservative means having distrust and disdain for those who think differently than I do, clinging to media sources that keep me angry while mocking people who are different than I am, gatekeeping others so that I can more easily outgroup them, seeing self as the center of the universe and self gain as the goal, and lacking any desire to help those in need because it's their fault they're in this mess? Who in their right mind would want any part of that?
