Arkansas’ rebuild

and no gimmick offense that needs 'time' to build
If you are referring to the Vols offense, when did speed become a gimmick? Football is a sport where conditioning is very important. If you can wear the other team down, you increase your odds of winning.

Not to mention Arky’s O is as “gimmicky” as ours and they were trash last year.

Arkansas and Ole Mss both are proof in front of your very lying eyes that the "give 'em four or five years" does not apply if you have a good staff and are playing big boy football. You'll know end of year two what you have.

Arkansas looks good this season. Up 17-0 to A&M right now too. That was definitely a bad program that was rebuilt. I hope we can do that especially in that short of time. What is their secret? Good coaching staff?
They had solid bigs , there 3 previous coaches new it takes to win in the sec,
So coaching and getting a few playmakers ready and you’re on the right track.
UT likes to go in a total different direction every coach change

That don’t apply every where! We had 2 coaches that didn’t know what “big boy Football “ is and 1 to dumb to cheat with the best of em and win

Unbelievable how creative Arkansas offense is. Seems like Tennessee has ran the same plays for 13 years.

Arkansas has a great staff with 2 elite coordinators. Also they were blessed with a good amount of OL talent due to Brett B being a OL guy. They came in evaluated what they had and Briles made his offense fit what talent they had. On defense Odom is a genius and can draw up some defenses. Then theres Pitt. He is, per some of the OL guys I know who played for him, a leader of men and very firey

Pretty remarkable what Pittman has done considering Arkansas was the laughing stock of the SEC in 2019.

It’s just proof to me that the University of Tennessee must have been built on an ancient burial ground of some sort because we must be cursed. If Arkansas can turn their dumpster fire of a program around that fast, and we can’t, I am losing hope it will ever happen.

THe incredible thing is they’ve done it twice! Once with Petrino and now Pitman. Three if you count Houston Nutt.

All true, but I imagine their players are now where near as highly talented or recruited as our own. It really shows how important coaching is.

Arkansas only had one fewer player selected to the preseason all-SEC teams than A&M, and basically the same amount as LSU who everyone considers super talented (they had one more but it was a punter).

For the teams who recruit in the top 10-15 vs. those who recruit in the top 20-25 the biggest difference is depth. A&M is much more talented than Arkansas 1-85 but not all of those players play at the same time. Unless you’re Alabama or Georgia then the talent advantage really isn’t enough to just overwhelm opponents. The biggest issue programs who recruit like Arkansas have is when injuries hit and there just isn’t enough depth.

Right now it’s an O game…….especially for teams on the “rebuild.”

You might not be able to win them all like that……but you can certainly win games and “rebuild” like that.
I've seen that show up close and personal

Didn't old Jimbo just get an extension and raise?

Seems A&M has decided to follow the UT model of giving out extensions which are not needed.
They were afraid that LSU would steal him when they fire Ed O... true story. The current LSU AD was the guy that hired Fisher at A&M and was also the AD at Washington that hired Chris Peterson. The guy has a history of making excellent hires across the board wherever he goes.

Wow, I did not know that LSU and A&M changed ADs.

I will give you Peterson was an excellent hire. Would still be a great hire for anybody if he could be coached out of retirement. All the guy does is win without any NCAA problems

Jimbo, honestly I am not sold on him-at A&M anyway. Take away the two Jameis years and he has fielded good but not great teams and the occasional clunker here and there. Eventually, he will manage to fall upwards into another great job though.
