Arkansas’ rebuild

It's always a good weekend when Fake Army and Purple Aggy lose. Great job Arkansas and SMU.

Arkansas looks good this season. Up 17-0 to A&M right now too. That was definitely a bad program that was rebuilt. I hope we can do that especially in that short of time. What is their secret? Good coaching staff?
Hogs have a solid coach and the portal was good to them!

Improvement is there but they have not played anybody yet and with QB play at Texas A&M this is an obvious win. So Be it.
Where did The Texas statement come in. LOL Don't Care Arkansas would beat Pitt 9 out of 10 Times Maybe. LOL My next door Neighbor's Hog is bigger than yours depending on the Scales used.
They’ve beaten two top 15 teams at the time of their playing (Texas and Texas AM). What are you talking about they haven’t played anyone.

Arkansas has 16 6th year seniors. They started 8 seniors on D.

We’ve had 36 transfers and 2 injury retirements in the last 2 cycles. That’s where a lot of our experience went.

Yeah having 24 years olds going against 19 year olds is a pretty big advantage even if they weren’t ranked as high in high school. Reminds me a bit of what Kopps did in baseball.

Just hope fans are patient with Pittman if next season regresses after losing all that experience.

That's the punchline of joke you need to know. Won't bore you with it, but google it.

Arkansas 2020 recruiting class was ranked 29 in the nation. The Aggies 2020 recruiting class was ranked 6. The Aggies recruited 12 players that were/are ranked ahead of Arkansas top player.

UT has out recruited Arkansas as well but they’d kick our tails right now. Coaching can make a big difference.
Go back the last 5 years (2017-21) and A&M has an average class ranking that is 10th in the nation while Arkansas is 30th. Not only did Arkansas win the game but they look like the better team right now. It doesn’t appear to be a fluke win. Class rankings don’t mean everything. Of course people will point to UGA, Bama, Ohio St and others as proof it does but those teams are raking in as many as 7 5-star players in a year and the rest they bring in are 4 stars so of course they will win consistently against teams that are ranked 10th because they brought in 13 4-star players but no 5-stars. 1 year of that isn’t a huge deal but you do that 5 years in a row and it certainly makes a difference. You can’t discount development of those players and in-season/in-game coaching. We can see factors beyond recruiting appear to count for more than 20 spots in the rankings when you look at Arkansas and A&M this year. Of course that’s just one example but class rankings are not a great indicator or current talent as it’s only part of a very complicated equation.

They’re proof it doesn’t take 5-7 years to become good like many on here believe. If we don’t make a fairly large leap next season we will know JH isn’t the guy.
It’s way too complex a situation to make such a blanket statement. We didn’t start from the same place for one. Let’s see what happens this year and next and then we be able to better evaluate Heupel and staff. Plus, don’t be shocked when Arkansas gets railroaded by UGA this coming weekend.

Still though, between year 1 and 2 there needs to be a noticeable improvement

THe incredible thing is they’ve done it twice! Once with Petrino and now Pitman. Three if you count Houston Nutt.
What’s just as crazy is those 3 hires were all by different ADs. Maybe there was stability above the AD position that led to nailing those decisions as they’ve had remarkable results in hiring coaches. Bieliema didn’t work out but he was considered a home run hire at the time.

Yea and Clemson was number 2 when Georgia beat them and number 9 when NC State Beat them. Not sure Early Season Rankings are Legit. Texas A&M was number 7 without any consideration of them not having a QB. Jimbo is notorious for poor QB Play. Texas will get it together before A&M but their schedule is easier. Arkansas is on a roll but let's wait for the SEC Grind.

FWIW, I'm not thinking they need a quarterback. Jefferson is really playing well this year, and he's a sophomore. Their backup quarterback scored a TD against A&M.

ROFL, so if Tennessee beat TAMU today, you'd downplay the W? GTFO.

Karma. TX A&M does not play Tennessee so need for you to Comment. Stick with the Story Line Dufus. Tennessee does not play TX. Tennessee does play GA and Arkansas just did. So time will tell. BTW Miss State beat Tx A&M so what do you draw from that....What I draw from that Tx A&M is Overrated. Like I saw wait until they play the season out and we will see where Arkansas stands.
